I'm getting a HTC Dream, otherwise known as the G1, as soon as my contract turns over and I'm up for a new phone at a discount. It runs Android and if what I've read is correct, it's Linux-based. It's also a mostly open platform and can easily be customized. I have Tmobile, which for now is the only carrier to offer the Android-based phones. If I had Sprint or wanted to switch companies, I would have had an iPhone long ago, but now I'm pretty satisfied with the G1 and as soon as it's actually out in stores, I'm going in to check one out.
What excites me about the G1:
- haptic feedback touch screen
- 3 mp camera
- 3G/WiFi network capabilities
- open platform
- slide-out qwerty keyboard
- 300mhz
