I live in South Africa, and up until yesterday, the ruling government was the African National Congress, and the President was Thabo Mbeki - he succeeded Nelson Mandela.
But yesterday - wait for it - he got fired.
By his own party no less.
So what does this mean for us white people living in South Africa ? Who the hell knows? Am I interested in sticking around to find out?
Not really.
It has everything to do with the fact that he fired his deputy, after he was charged with fraud and corruption,2 years ago.Not uncommon in this country for a politician ,from the ruling party, to get charged for that.So the deputy has spent the last 2 years fighting the charges in court, and on Friday the charges were thrown out.
The next day,he lobbied the ruling party to fire the president,as he felt he was victimised. So the party agreed.
The fact the the deputy's financial advisor is in maximum security prison for 15 years for the same case, doesnt speak volumes for the deputy's innocence, now does it?
.........and those, are the Days of Our Lives
