Two-time presidential failure Joe Biden recently bloviated that folks making $250,000 or more (basically what the owner of a neighborhood pizza place pulls in per year) need to start kicking in with higher taxes because - get this - it's their "patriotic" duty.
Gee, good old Charlie Rangel, longtime Democrat and chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, is in a prolonged brouhaha over not reporting taxes on beach front property he owns in the Caribbean, and for having four rent-controlled apartments ideally meant for people who can't afford housing at market prices.
I wonder if this is Biden's idea of what it means to be a taxpaying patriot?
Biden makes it sound as those the taxes these folks already pay don't count, or if they want to reduce their tax burden, they're being unpatriotic.
Well guess what. If Biden and Obama (in that order of power) get their way, pizza place owners and other small business owners will be lay off their employees, thus cutting off workers on the lowest rungs of the economic ladder. Higher taxes also means that folks who make $250,000 or more will have less to sock away for retirement (READ: Less money to invest), thus hobbling the ability of future companies and businesses to grow and keep people employed.
But that is the liberal ethos, isn't it? Cut people off from making progress and create increase dependency on government.
Not that the Republicans have done very much better, mind you. Their dependents are apparently the executives at AIG.
It's almost enough to make me vote Libertarian!
