Just thought i might try something new here......I had an idea for a new chili recipe, and I am going to take the risk of sharing it with you before I know how good (or bad)it is going to be.....pretty gutsy huh?
Anyway.......I started soaking the beans yesterday morning.....to protect myself from liability of gas slander!.....2 beans.....small reds and pintos.
I bought a couple pounds of pork trim pieces (99 cents a pound...cheap!) and here is where I am doing something different......I created a dry mixture of flour, corn meal, garlic powder, onion salt, salt, pepper, new mexico chili powder, and cumin.......and coated the pork in that.....I put it in a lightly oiled baking pan, and put it into the oven at about 300 degrees, where it will get "chicken fried"........I will later add it into the chili.
My brother told me to come raid his garden today.....so I think I will use some fresh tomatoes instead of canned....as well as some unconventional ingredients if available......I want to use some shallots and banana peppers.......I may have to go to the grocery store to get some other ingredients.
If this turns out, I will publish it on my page on recipezaar.com
Later I will make some cornbread to go with it.
It is a rainy day here, so I think it is perfect chili weather......anyone want to join for supper?
