Optical Ablation Zone - That part of the optical zone corrected by a laser treatment.Optic Disc - The circular area where the optic nerve meets the retinal nerve fibers, and where blood vessels enter the eye. It’s also known as the “blind spot” because this intersection with the optic nerve and presence of blood vessels interferes with the retina’s function as a camera film.

DR. WILLIAM A. BOOTHE - EYE SURGERY: diopter - The diopter is the unit of measurement for optical lenses. A one diopter lens will focus parallel light rays 1 meter from the lens and a two diopter lens will focus 0.5 meter from the lens. A plus ( + ) 1.0 diopter lens is convex and will converge the light rays so they focus as a visible image 1 meter past the lens. A minus ( - ) 1.0 diopter lens is concave and will diverge or spread light. The minus lens will not actually focus as a visible image on an optics table. Its image is known as a virtual image and if the divergings rays were followed to their point of origin they would focus 1 meter in front of the minus lens.

Wavefront - Technology used to detect and measure higher order visual aberrations. These are the ocular aberrations other than the lower order aberrations of myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism, which can be detected by a traditional eye examination. Some examples are glare, halos, and starbursts.

LASIK EYE - DR WILLIAM A. BOOTHE: Laser surgery for the eyes involves scraping or lifting the cornea and using laser beams to re-shape the tissue beneath it. This has been proven t be effective for astigmatism, near sightedness and far sightedness.
Eyeliners are meant to define the eyes so they should do just that, not be the focal point of your makeup. Eyeliners come in various colors and forms liquid, pencil etc. Keep the eyeliner natural. Pencils are available in many colors (for the best look stick to black or brown) and can be sharpened for a fine line. For a smudged effect use a sponge tip shadow applicator or an eye shadow brush. When your pencils are too soft refrigerate them. When they are too hard soften them by holding them between your fingers.
To line the eye, start on the lower lid, just beneath the lashes. When you are finished always smudge the line with your sponge. Stay as close to the lash line as possible. On the upper lid, draw a line form the inner corner to the outer corner, thickening the line toward the outer corner. After the age of 40 keep the line in between the lashes.

cornea - The transparent front window of the eye. Light passes into the eye allowing vision and also out of the eye allowing the iris and pupil of the eye to be seen. The cornea can be considered to have 5 layers:
* 1. the corneal epithelium,
* 2. Bowman's layer,
* 3. corneal stroma,
* 4. Descemet's layer, and
* 5. the corneal endothelium.
corneal endothelium - The inner layer of cells on the inside surface of the cornea- like the inside pane of a double pane window.

Optician is an expert in the art and science of making and fitting glasses and may also dispense contact lenses.Optometrist is a primary eye care provider who diagnoses and manages disorders of the visual system and eye disease.
Overcorrection is a complication of refractive surgery where the expected amount of correction is more than desired and often occurs where healing regresses less vigorously than predicted.
