Perhaps it is because I am stressed out, which always prompts the munchies, or prehaps it's because of all of Silver's food posts lately, but I've spent the last few hours occassionally wandering into my kitchen, opening the cabinets, staring in them, closing them and then walking over to the refrigerator, opening it, staring in it, closing it, and then opening the freezer. All of this has been to pretty much no avail because nothing sparked my interest, which is perhaps a good thing.

But I can't shake this craving for something to gnosh on. So, fellow Soulcasters, when you get the munchies, what do you typically crave? Is it a bowl of freshly popped and buttered popcorn? Is it a handful of crunchy salty mini-knot pretzels? Is it a handful of honey roasted peanuts? Or is it something more complex?

In other words, what's your favorite junk food(s) to munch on?

My answers later...of course...:)

I've had days where I open doors and stare, too. I like to mix sweet and salty together. Milkduds and popcorn, Rolo and Cheez-its, whatchamacallits with beef jerky, KitKats and Doritos... They're all good. Sometimes, I get a craving for those hostess fruit pies(which my lady affectionately calls "lard pies"). I love junk food. I know I'll be toothless when I go, but it's okay. As long as I can suck my mush through a straw, I'll be fine. Just keep that sugar coming!!! Oh and Z, if you're stressed out, I posted a blurb about relaxation you might like to look at. Something about a couch. Yums, Grape.

Eastertime is my one time of year when I fulfill my craving for Cadbury Creme Eggs. I have a weakness for sirloin burgers. Juicy with a thick slice of pepperjack cheese, pickles, and ketchup... I am trying to watch my girlish figure here! :)

generally, i favor salty/savory snacks foods. i think my all time favorite is combos, those pretzel bits filled w/ cheese. i could eat whole bags of them in seconds. alternately, most forms of cheese will do nicely, i find, or bit of hummus. :> ed

I try really hard not to do this but right now I'm eating choclate biscuits along with a cup of tea. I like chocolate covered hazelnuts and peanuts but as DH is allergic to nuts I have to stick to chocolate raisons.

Torilla chips and cheese please....I am also a combos lover...I don't care for the nacho flavored ones though.

I've done the search thing too...cinnamon or chocolate can't be beat. Did I tell you I love sugar?

I'm a tortilla chip person too - with hot salsa.

I usually crave for the salty ones, they seem to uplift my mood but lately i'm munching on sweets, lengua de gato and uraro cookies in particular.

Cheetos, popcorn and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are my favorites.

I've been doing the rounds of the kitchen lately, at my home and at my mom's. I've been craving some bacon. We don't keep it stocked because I can eat entirely too much of it and I know it's not healthy.

I have to get those boxes of the microwave bacon or bags of real bacon bits because whenever I try to cook a pound of bacon on the stuff, by the time it's all done cooking, there's about 4 slices left and I eat them all. Really not healthy, I know.

I love to munch on Godiva's Dark Belgium Chocolate Ice Cream. But I can only eat a few spoonfuls because it's so rich. Hamburgers are a favorite too. I had them for dinner and lunch two days in a row this week.
  • LoriaAmnekia said on Aug 18, 2006....
By the way, I meant cooking bacon on the stove, not on the stuff. I really need to pay more attention....

    Hi Zada.

Thats a good question, well that depends on what I was doing before I got the munchies. Ha HA!!!.
Before my heart attack, I used to go for chocolate ice cream
and oreo cookies, This was an experience
First I would seperate the two hard cakes of cookie then I would gently run the vanila cream over my tounge over and
over and over and over until all the lucsious creamy goodness
was gone. then I would take the ice cream and place in where the filling was and eat the cookie.
    Give it a try.
Now after my heart attack, I reach for sorbet. frozen fruit
any one to me they are good. I do once in awhile have a little
    piece of chocolate.

In a real primal sense I love you Z. Talk to me.

You have more in your soul than snack foods and gimicks to get hits to your blog.

I'm holding out out not getting any answer, I'm finding out that cheating gets it faster. I heard your spirit in the background as a theme song playing with out a dub.

You take your steps away from hesitance. You take your steps away from me.

for me, cravings are saftisfied with salty food as well..usually baked pita chips and hummus are finally what feeds that need. if there are no pita chips and hummus, i turn to tortilla chips and guacamole--freshly made.

and yes, hunter, it is time to choose from the cabinet of my life.

something i recently had that i wanted to share with you: cranberry honey with chipotle/cranberry cheddar. omg, but it was absolutely delicious! i'm not generally a big fan of mixing savor & sweet, but in this instance, it was utterly beautiful!
