D'oh! My life has been a hurricane of boredom lately. Nothing to blog about. I kinda wish I didn't leave this blog to rust away. I think it's time to start reconnecting with some of my old buddies again. And to those of you who miss my blithering, I apologize.
Those of you still interested, though I doubt it, here's what's happened since I last blogged. Damn, seriously not much, but here goes:
First, I've loosened my associations with the most bureaucratic, money-grubbing, blood-stained nonprofit organization on the planet. It started in February when they dropped me from the Tech Program, in which I worked in the computer lab with a close friend of mine, teaching basic computer skills to senior citizens and children. I had two separate job titles there, and the Tech Program was the reason I was there in the first place. Working in maintenance just made me full-time. Then they put me on full-time maintenance.
But here's the problem. When they were adjusting my hourly wages, they forgot to factor in the raise I had. Things got worse; a week before my resignation notice was to take effect, they announced layoffs for the two maintenance workers with the least seniority- me and a guy that only started four months ago. But here's the punchline. They kept me and waited out until my notice took effect. They screwed me out of severance! So to hell with them.
Since November '07, I was complaining about recurring ear infections. And they kept going until about March. My doctor took a biopsy to rule out cancer (you can imagine how much that freaked me out), and saw that my tonsils were swollen to the point where it closed off the tube that drains fluid in the ear. So I got my tonsils and adenoids shucked out of me. It was not without its complications, and I swallowed and threw up about 700 CCs of blood. Doctor says if I were 20 or 30 pounds lighter, that would've meant transfusion. I'll never complain about being a fat-ass again.
Now that I'm between jobs, I can focus on my writing a little more. My prose is still collecting dust, but my poetry is coming along nicely.
So, um, that's enough about me. How has everyone else been?
