Last night Bill O' Reilly got verbally smacked around by Neil Cavuto in a debate over oil.  O'Reilly believes all the worlds energy woes can be blamed on greedy oil companies.  Cavuto didn't come on to talk about oil and before his introduction O'Reilly made the point that the price of oil dropped to a certain level and gas has not followed.

Cavuto as soon as he was introduced lit into O'Reilly and at one point called his theories "populist nonsense."  This of course caused O'Reilly to yell and eventually and subtly called him a pinhead.

I occasionally watch The No Spin Zone and one of the few things I disagree with O'Reilly on is his stance on oil.  It was very refreshing to see him get his ass handed to him, mainly because it is rare.  You could clearly see that Cavuto has more knowledge about this subject.  Sorry Bill, but that is the No Spin truth.

Gas hasn't followed?  What reality does he live in, whereI live gas has plumetted about a nickel a week since the price of oil started falling.  Maybe it hasn't fallen quite as fast as oil has, but the price didn't go up as fast either.

I just heard Dennis Miller, on O'Reilly, say something about taking Cavuto
out. I did not know what he was talking about. I rarely watch that show.
I think O'Reilly gives conservatives a bad name. I do listen to Dennis
Miller on the radio (I think it is rerun from the morning). He is pretty
conservative, but still a bit Hollywood on some issues. I think there is
so much money in the oil businiess that it is kind of like the drug
business. If the top guys do not like what is going on they just throw
a bunch of money around to whatever politician is in sight. I think people
on both sides of the aisle are guilty.

Sean-Do you find it interesting that gas prices have been sinking but the impression in the media, commercials, and everywhere they are still rising?

Alien-I like O'Reilly but he clearly got shut down.  O'Reilly blames everything on record oil profits, it is one of the few really liberal stances he takes.  His book Culture Warriors is very well written.  I think he gives Conservatives a bad name because he does lean more to the right while at the same time he is a bully.  Even though I loved it when he nailed Al Franken to a wall a few years ago at a book signing.

The only impression I've seen from the media that says that prices are rising is car commercials, and they didn't even start claiming that prices were raising until the week before they started falling.  It's no a conspiracy, it's one part them not being able to read the market and thus being "behind" the times when their commercials came out, and one part trying to sell their product.
