My Honey, goes to the pound about 2wks ago to look for a dog. Little one has been begging for one for about two years. Honey finds a sweet little pug who just arrived so he has a 10 day hold on him he’s 3yrs old and is probably blind in his right eye, but he was so cut that Honey puts his name on a list so we could adopt him.  Honey waits the 10 days and picks me up on Friday and says he has a surprise. We go to the pound I see the pug and fall in love immediately. So we go to the counter to fill out all the paperwork, they tell us we can not have him today because he needs to be neutered, we can get him from the vet on Monday.

Monday arrives and I can barely stand the wait as we have not told Little one she is getting a dog, so the vet calls and says since we have him under anesthesia we think he should have a tear duct test to see if he is making tears in his right eye and to see if he is blind, that’s going to be $45 also we notice he has a baby tooth that did not fall out and since pugs have problems with overcrowding with their teeth we should it that would be $75 and he has a lot of plaque on his teeth and we can clean them while he is under that will be $115 plus antibiotics another $65. Then the lady on the phone says of course this is the discounted price and we just wanted to get your permission before we started. I am in shock $300 that’s a lot of dough for a pound puppy. I mean if I wanted to spend 400 for a dog I would have gone to a breeder. So I tell her I will call her back in 5min. I collected my thoughts and realized she was holding my dog hostage. This vet was contracted by the county pound to do a procedure and in the process the vet is lining his pockets with money of people who are trying to help a dog live a good life. UUUGGGGHHHHHH I was so mad. Needless to say I did not let them do any procedure other than the neutering. And when I went to pick him up I got a lecture about how much care this dog was going to need and was I prepared for all of his health issues. Hey he’s blind in one eye and has some plaque on his teeth. I think I can handle that.

Capitan is home and being loved by little one and me. I will post pics as soon as he sits still long enough to get a picture.
