Skald : A long, long time ago I lent a friend of mine $3 .00. I 'm guessing but I think we were about 15 years old. We all hung out at a local pool hall fully equipted with illiegal gambling machines.
Years later on the pool hall parking lot I bumped into my old friend. I don't know why but like a fool I asked him if he had the $ 3.00 he owed me . . that I hade'nt forgotten about it . He said " Cayenne, you ain' t never gonna see that $ 3.00. I said like a stupid fool " Look I lent it to you when you needed it . " I swear to God he walked over to a car load of freinds of his and somebody handed him an empty beer bottle out of the car window. My friend took the bottle and proceeded to break the neck off of it and then he came right at me to cut me up or what ever. I did'nt laugh . . it was'nt funny but I knew I could have taken the bottle away from him but I did'nt. All this over $3.00.
About eight years ago a friend called me and told me that my friend had layed down on a counch and fell asleep and died. The three dollars meant nothing to me but I wish we would have continued to have been friends. I've come to believe friends should work things out regardless of what issues they need to settle. You know what I mean ?
From that day on I'm willing to let by-gones be by-gones I loved my little buddy, hell we had been friends since we where born.
