LASIK EYE - DR WILLIAM A. BOOTHE
Custom Cornea - The trade name for a wavefront-guided LASIK that uses the LADARVision excimer laser, made by Alcon.Decentration - A complication of eye surgery. When centration is perfect, the corneal ablation, or the position of the intraocular lens being implanted, is in the center of the eye, lined up with the pupil. Then vision is perfectly centered through the ablated area and pupil, so that we see clearly and fully, like looking through the center of your glasses. When decentration happens, the ablation has been done off-center, or the lens’ position is shifted, so that vision is partially corrected and partially as it was originally.

Hyperopia - (hi-pur-OH-pee-uh) Farsightedness. It’s one of the lower order aberrations (along with myopia and astigmatism), and is correctible by glasses, contact lenses, and LASIK procedures. The higher order aberrations are more subtle and are non-refractive errors of the eye.LASIK EYE - Dr William Boothe
LASIK DALLAS - DR WILLIAM A. BOOTHE: diopter - The diopter is the unit of measurement for optical lenses. A one diopter lens will focus parallel light rays 1 meter from the lens and a two diopter lens will focus 0.5 meter from the lens. A plus ( + ) 1.0 diopter lens is convex and will converge the light rays so they focus as a visible image 1 meter past the lens. A minus ( - ) 1.0 diopter lens is concave and will diverge or spread light. The minus lens will not actually focus as a visible image on an optics table. Its image is known as a virtual image and if the divergings rays were followed to their point of origin they would focus 1 meter in front of the minus lens.

LASIK (Laser in-situ Keratomileusis) is used to correct or reduce moderate to high levels of nearsightedness (myopia), astigmatism and farsightedness (hyperopia). The traditional LASIK procedure is relatively simple: a keratome is used to gently create a flap in the cornea. In IntraLASIK, the flap is created by a computer-controlled, precision laser.
The flap is lifted and an excimer laser is then used to shape the remaining tissue. The flap is then carefully set back into place, forming an occlusive seal by osmopic pressure. Osmopic pressure holds the flap in place and allows it to heal very quickly, without stitches!
Laser surgery for eyes is also recommended for glaucoma patients. Glaucoma results from poor drainage of aqueous fluids in the eye. Dr. Boothe, the result is a build- up of pressure that can press against the optic nerves. This can lead to serious complications especially if the optic nerves are damaged beyond repair. Laser beams can be directed into the area where this fluid accumulates to widen the angle through which it flows.
Dr. Boothe, in the case of glaucoma caused by the construction of new and more blood vessels, laser can be used to destroy these new and often poorly formed blood vessels so aqueous fluids can easily flow.
LASIK DALLAS - DR BOOTHE
Dr William A. Boothe: Laser Assisted Epithelium Keratomileusis - The acronym for LASEK, a variation on LASIK used when the cornea is too flat or too thin for standard LASIK. Instead of using a microkeratome, it uses an instrument known as a trephine, with a finer blade, to make the corneal flap, and then the eye is soaked for a half-minute or so with an alcohol solution. This softens the epithelium so that it can be folded back more safely.
DR. WILLIAM BOOTHE
Dr Boothe Lasik Surgeon A pioneer in the field of refractive surgery, Dr. William Boothe was one of the first cornea specialists to be trained in vision correction techniques during his Fellowship. In addition, he was the first cornea-trained surgeon in the Dallas area to use an FDA-approved Excimer laser for refractive surgery.
Dr. Boothe was among the first three surgeons in the Dallas area (and one of the first in the country) to use a microkeratome, the instrument that creates the flap during the initial part of ALK and LASIK surgery. The delicate procedure of precisely lifting the flap is critical to overall success of the surgery.

Glare is scatter from bright light that decreases vision.Halos are rings around lights.
Haze is corneal clouding that causes the sensation of looking through smoke or fog.
