I hate to say this, but taxes for most of us are going to go up in the near future no matter who is President.

We simply can't pay for two wars and all of our domestic programs while cutting taxes and Bush has borrowed trillions to pay for these wars already. A McCain advisor has already admitted this, but said that republicans can't say it because it goes against their brand.

here is the interview with McCains economic adviser.

CBL: were you a Hillary supporter? Does it not bother you that Borax is
less qualified than the Republican VP pick? Not to mention he is a socialist
in sheeps clothing. (I will post about that later.) He wants "economic
justice". Guess who pays for his socialist plan. Big business never does.
Never. They just pass the taxes on to us. Otherwise, they would go out
of business. Or they will offer less benefits to their employees. Think about
it. Have Democrats ever delivered anything but higher taxes and more
    spending? Be honest.

bloc: taxes have to go up, probably, but the big difference is where those
taxes go. If they go to repay the debt, fine. If they go to pay for votes,
not so fine. That is the difference. McCain does not offer a free ride to
welfare deadbeats. Or at least that is what he says, and we only have
the word of either candidate. I think McCain's word is a little more solid
that Obama's wishy-washy any way the wind blows (like most Democrats)
philosophy. Every where Obama goes he baits his audience with the
something for nothing message. He calls it "economic justice". We know
it as punish the successful and redistribute it to deadbeats.

actually, we can look at the past 8 years of republicans and see that it does not go to the debt (they increased the debt more than anyone) and it did go to buy votes.

Regarding the "successful". Billionaires pay a much lower percentage of their income in taxes than you and I. This is due in large part to Bush reducing the tax on capital gains. Let's have an honest discussion about taxes here. Republicans want the ultra rich to pay a lower percentage than you and me. Obama wants them to pay the same as you and me.

    I like Obama's tax plan

Alien----I was a Hillary supporter, and still wish she was the nominee.  But I am voting Democrat (Party) this year because I am fed up with the Republican agenda.  8 yrs of Republican White House Policy is "enough"!

bloc---- I like Obama's tax plan too!

Did you like the Carter years? I hope so because Obama will bring them
back and then some. Those who do not learn from history are destined to
repeat it. Bush was wrong in a lot of ways, but Obama is even more
wrong. We have had a pretty good economy (until the Democrats took
over last year) in spite of the economic devistation brought on by 9/11.
Lower taxes work, but Democrats cannot be kept out of the mix long
enough to let it work. I bought a home at the end of the Carter years.
16 percent interest loan. After a couple of years of Reagan I refinanced
at around 8.5 percent. Not to mention inflation and gas lines. With Obama
we will soon be in food lines, of that you can be sure. Higher taxes and
socialism sound good, but they do not work. Ask the USSR, or what is
left of it. Obama wants economic justice, which is socialist-speak for
redistributing wealth. The only way to redistribute wealth is to keep
taxes low so employers can afford to do business and pay their employees
and help them afford health care insurance, etc. You teach people to
fish. You do not "hand out" fish.

Alien----In answer to your question......"NO".....I did not like the Carter years.
  • bloc said on Sep 17, 2008....
blaming the democrats for this economy is laughable. This failure is the result of deregulation.
  • ALIENated said on Sep 17, 2008....

So you want regulation? You want the government to do everything (health
insurance, regulate banks, yadda yadda yadda), but you do not want them
to defend our country or secure our borders? I need a rule book on when
you trust the government and when you do not trust the government. The
government needs to protect us and maybe build highways and bridges,
but you want just the opposite. Is that right? Disturbing. And I am not
really blaming the Democrats or the Republicans. Crap happens, especially
when people get greedy. And I am talking about all those greedy people
who bought houses they could not afford and all those greedy people that
sold them the houses. Our way of life is built on capitalism (which I totally
agree with) and it is hard to recognize greed as opposed to just being a
    capitalist sometimes.

CBL, if you did not like the Carter years, why would you vote for Obama?
Here is the math on that (C is Carter and O is Obama) ...

    C X C X C = O

That may not be enough Cs. At least Carter had some experience as a
governor. Obama has done next to nothing and knows next to nothing.
You really should do some research and stop listening to liberals that
just want to be in power even at the expense of our country. I will tell
you a secret. If the Democrats had picked someone with half a brain
and a shred of love for this country, I might have voted for him/her just
to help shock the Republicans back into action. I think that is what
the Sarah Palin phenomenon is all about. Someone in the game that is
not a morally bankrupt moron. And your fellow Obama supporters are
trashing her like there is no tomorrow, which is exactly why I return
the favor. Liberals squawk about fairness to women and then act like
this. Obama rubs elbows with the Hollywood elite and calls us goofs.
How revealing if only you open your eyes.

Liberals / Democrats have brought politics down to the level of a
schoolyard name-calling, shouting match, which all started in the 60s
when the baby boomers (and lots of them) were such a massive
force on the scene. Those 60s baby boomers and their offspring are
now populating the Democratic party instead of the solid citizens
that once made up that great party. I would never want to give that
screaming baby its way. Like bloc, they hate the government if it does
something and they hate it if it does not do something. There is a
name for that ... ah ... schitzoid.
