Who's reading Watchmanwhatofthenight (8):
Jesus makes it quite clear that no one can come to him unless the father wills it and that whoever the father gives to Jesus will not be lost but will have eternal life and God will raise him up on that day. Faith to believe on Jesus comes from God the father. Only the father can reveal the son in the same way that the father revealed who Jesus was to Peter (Mat 16:15-21 KJV) He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? {16} And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Not all who hear the words of Jesus will believe as they cannot. God only gives sight to the spiritually blind. Jesus said unless the father draw someone they cannot come to God. Is there a part that man plays in the salvation of the lost. Only to be vessels for God to use to reach those he is calling. Preach the word and intercede by the holy Spirit and let the Lord do his will and have his way. We can cry out even as Moses did for the lost for God to grant repentance to the acknowledging of the truth but we must Let God do his work and let us yield surrendered and trusting hearts to his sovereign love and justice.

The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.
And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?
Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believe th on me hath everlasting life.

Jesus said that unless you partake of his flesh and drink of his blood you have no part in him.
Jesus is the true bread that came down from heaven that we must partake of and not the law or the manna that perishes. the flesh profits nothing ,those under law cannot please God but the spirit gives life. You must be born of the holy Spirit to have eternal life that is a gift given without repentance. Those under the law are those who rely on their own righteousness, their own works, their own merit, they add these things to the cross. They are under law that are offended at eating the flesh and drinking the blood of the son of God. The preaching of the cross is an offense to them but to us who are saved it is the POWER OF GOD!

I am that bread of life.
Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?
When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?
What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.

The bible.  It is an historical document supported by history, archaeology and science. 40 different athours wrote the bible over several thousand years who did not know each other but all complete the message of messiah to come. has already come, and will come again. Not to mention the millions of people across the span of history who have been touched by Jesus Christ with many having written supporting testimony to attest to being saved by Jesus over  many hundreds of years. That would make a fair amount of liars dont you think?

It is a book supported in small amounts by History, supported in no parts by archaeology and in no parts by science. It was written by 40 different men hence the reason it is full of contradictions and morally inconsistent so called words of god. It is confused in its moral guidance; it provides no evidence for the existence of god. It provides no proof for a so-called "virgin birth".

You will be interested to know that I have indeed read the bible many times and so know the above to be the case. The problem is that people of religion read it with the pre-conception that it is fact. That is the mistake you to have made.

If you can point out where it is supported by science I would be interested.

If you have read it then how can you say there are contradictions???...Name them...maybey I can clarify something. Also, Archaeology supports many bible stories....such as Sodom and Gomorah, the Philistine nation, ancient nations such as Babylon, the queen of Sheba, ancient cities such as Jericho, ect ect ect.....many ,many. many .events in the bible are recorded by ancient historical documents,,,any historian will attest to that , including myself.

    Here you go

    Which first--beasts or man?

GEN 1:25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
GEN 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

GEN 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
GEN 2:19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

Is it folly to be wise or not?

PRO 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

ECC 1:18 For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.

1CO 1:19: "For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent."

    The sins of the father

ISA 14:21 Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.

DEU 24:16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

    Righteous live?

PSA 92:12: "The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree."

ISA 57:1: "The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart."

    Jesus' last words

MAT 27:46,50: "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, eli, lama sabachthani?" that is to say, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" ...Jesus, when he cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost."

LUK 23:46: "And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, "Father, unto thy hands I commend my spirit:" and having said thus, he gave up the ghost."

JOH 19:30: "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, "It is finished:" and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."

CRUEL, UNMERCIFUL, DESTRUCTIVE, and FEROCIOUS or KIND, MERCIFUL, and GOOD:

"I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy." (JER 13:14) "Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not, but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling."

"The Lord is very pitiful and of tender mercy." (JAS 5:11)
"For his mercy endureth forever." (1CH 16:34)
"The Lord is good to all, and his tender mercies are over all his works." (PSA 145:9)
    "God is love." (1JO 4:16)

    Tempts?

"And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham." (GEN 22:1)

"Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God; for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man." (JAS 1:13)

    Ascend to heaven

"And Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven." (2KI 2:11)

"No man hath ascended up to heaven but he that came down from heaven, ... the Son of Man." (JOH 3:13)

    Who bears guilt?

GAL 6:2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

GAL 6:5 For every man shall bear his own burden.

Here are a few to get you started.

What you mean is that some parts of the bible talk about places that can be identified. That dosnt make the bible true. The storys were written by man so they will contain some detail about what was around them. That still dosnt make Jesus real. If you know your history then you will know that there are many gods that have an almost identicle story to that described of jesus in the bible.

Simply, the answer is NO! It doesn't jibe with the rudimentary doctrines of Jesus or even our own sense of morality. Who can condemn a newborn baby for sin? Who can say Adam condemned us all by sinning? It's a crazy concept!...
