mrMimi woke me this morning.

"Wake up.  MimiJr wants to talk to you."

In my experience, no good can come from a sentence like that.  I picked up the phone and said hello, in my froggy just-woke-up voice.

MimiJr is in tears, and I can barely understand her.

"Mom, Tucker escaped.  I can't find her.  What do I do?

From what I could gather, her roommate got home about 5 a.m., drunk, and the cat got out.  When MimiJr got up to go to work, she knew right away that something was wrong.  Both cats are usually waiting for her, and they both help her shower every morning.  She and her roommate (who feels terrible about it, as he should, frankly), and my son have been out since 7 a.m. looking for Tucker.

Unfortunately, I didn't have much constructive to add to what she's already done.  Put out food, walk around the neighborhood, talk to neighbors, put up lost kitty flyers, and hardest of all, wait until the cat decides it's time to come home.  If anyone has any other suggestions, I'd love to hear what they are.

My friend Boston gave me this little prayer -- Dear Saint Anthony, Please look around.  Something is lost and cannot be found.

Okay, Tucker, playtime's over.  Get your little kitty buns back here right now.

Oh no :-( That's always so sad when something like that happens. One of our cats escaped a few months ago and was outside for quite awhile before we realized. And the only reason we figured it out was because we heard a cat fight in our yard. So I turned on the light and our big fluffy kitty was being attacked by the neighbors cat. Luckily I rescued her and she was okay. But if that hadn't of happened, I might not have known she was out there all night.

Unfortunately there isn't a lot you can do other than shake a bag of food outside and walk around looking under cars and in bushes. But she needs to just hold out hope. My mom's cat ran off once and he was gone for 2 weeks. And then one day he just came walking into the yard like nothing happened. So I really hope Tucker comes home.

Oh!  That is so scary!  Tucker is either scared silly or he is excercising his kitty power of curiousity and is off exploring.  I really hope he comes back on his own with an air of dignity and a flip of his tail.

mimi- My puppy got out when someone left the gate open. I drove a huge area until a neighbor called me that they had her. Does Tucker have an ID collar? Or do cats wear those? I don't even know.

ID collars save a lot of pets. Hope they find him quickly.

    Mimi!!!

My kitty that lives at my parent's now, a Persian, was LOST!  It was awful!   Little D. LOVES her and just loves to visit her.  She was lost for TWO WEEKS!  Long enough for us to have to tell Little D.  She was SO sad.  I was too, even though she ruined all of my furniture.  My Mom was coming in from work and she saw her in the corner under the farmer's porch with her fur all raised like she was scared to death and her tail straight up.  My Mom opened the door and she walked right in.

We thought someone stole her and sold her, a coyote got her, a hawk, dog...anything.  I feel so bad that she can't tell us what happened to her!  My Mom said it took 3 days for her to settle down.

Just when you think it's time to give up hope...they come home.  Kitty will find her way home!  Just like Kyle's Mom...2 weeks seems the time!

    TUCKER!  Come home!

Oh, Alfie my youngest cat went missing not long ago, he was gone for four days, and I really thought he'd gone forever, but he reappeared, no apologies, just "where's the food"
I hope Tucker comes home soon.

Oh, Mimikins, I'll say a prayer that Tucker will soon return to home. Keep us posted please.

Could a neighbor have taken Tucker in? Our Maine Coon was missing for a few days and my husband was sure someone cat-napped her because she was so beautiful.
Turns out an elderly lady around the block let her in her house and forgot she was there. The woman left to visit her sister for the weekend and Rocky was locked in her house.
She drank from the toilet and used the tub as a litter box. She ran out the door the second the old lady opened it, and raced home.
Like Daily said, Tucker will come home as soon as he can.

Hi to all of you,  it's been a very stressful day here.  I was worried and constantly prodding St. Anthony to work his magic.  It's a little after 2 a.m. as I'm writing this.  MimiJr called about 45 minutes ago, and before she told me, I could tell from the sound of her voice that Tucker had returned home.  She was very tearfully elated. like she couldn't decide whether to hug her or yell at her.  Tucker was found in the next door neighbor's backyard, just hanging around waiting to be found.   MimiJr was in tears, I very nearly was in tears, and all is well.  My poor little MimiBug was so worried -- just distraught, and there was nothing I could do to help.

She texted me early in the evening, before Tuck was found.  Three words.  "My heart hurts."  It nearly broke my heart.  I couldn't even tell B what she said without crying.

Tuck walked in the house and went directly to the food dish, totally oblivious to the uproar.  Dopey cat...

Oh I am so glad Tucker came back - my cat is like a furry child, and I don't know what I would do if she went missing.

That's a cat. Came home when it was ready. It won't be "owned"! Your poor daughter.
  • botoni said on Sep 14, 2008....

Tucker and I are going to have a very serious discussion.

Booty:  "Tucker, you are a very naughty cat!"

Tucker looks at Booty and gives him the tail flip.  (Kitty version of the bird).

Booty:  "How can you be so utterly inconsiderate?"

    Tucker yawns and preens whiskers.

Booty:  "Dont you know how worried you had us all?"

Tucker curls up in a ball on Bottys' lap and purrs.

    Booty sighs and pets him.

    Yargh!

    Welcome home Tucker.

I'm SO happy Tuck's home!  When they run away it's like they died.
I had a cat from age 4-ish and she died right before my wedding.  She died in my Mother's arms almost 7 years ago to the day.  My Mom was rushing her to the vet for the second time and it was like she was telling my Mom "I love you" by going in her arms...before they (Mom and Dad) even pulled out of the driveway.  I still miss her!
Now I'm so sad.  :-( but so happy that Tucker's with jr.
