I woke up today tired. I'm always tired. I don't get excited any more. Things use to make me happy. I don't necessarily mean," things." Daily events, a cute puppy, a joke those kinda things. I am to tired to smile at the greeter a t  wal mart. Tired, why! Is it depression? What am I depressed about?

hi scar,   Thanks for commenting on my post.  As i told you befor, there are a lot of great people here who can help you.  I know the tiredness feeling.   I think that it's mostly a hopeless feeling.  I used to ask myself that question all the time.     "What's wrong with me".    It helps to write about it and get feedback.

Hi scarum.  I understand how you feel, except for the not getting excited part.  I am also so dreadfully tired more days than not, yet I can still get excited and find joy in things, just not as often as I used to.  I'll always return smiles and love a conversation, which makes me feel loads better.  As a matter of fact, I think that is my problem, and maybe you want to consider if it's yours:  lack of face-to-face exchanges.  Both my husband and I remarked how great we felt after socializing for well over an hour with an 81-year-old shopkeeper near a place we dined recently.  We live in a partitioned world and it hurts us.  We grow depression because those chemicals in our brains don't get used up on a regular basis.  A generation or two ago, people got together for cards, potlucks, whatever and they were happier from what I can tell by what's left of the old folks.

Another thought is fibromyalgia.  If there are pains, sharp aches and a great deal of fatigue, at least have the doctor rule it out.  A friend I had for years (who just dropped away recently for reasons unknown) had such symptoms when we first met and on my suggestion insisted on being tested.  It was positive and the treatment helps to a degree.

Yet another thought, is mononucleosis.  Us adults get it and don't realize it.  It can drag you down like an alligator in a swamp, so get tested for that, too.  It's an airborne thing, so simply being in public where someone sneezes can cause you to become infected.

Other than that, talk to the doc about depression (no, I'm not practicing what I preach...but I'm getting there).  You deserve to be happy and to feel joy.

There are many people suffering from depression disorders who fail to recognize the symptoms and sometimes it takes being informed by a trusted friend or family member that you are exhibiting signs....
All of us experience some sort of anxiety from time to time. It is our natural response to a situation that we find stressful....
