My little boy started crying loudly again tonight - briefly, but loudly, and as my husband and I hurried to hush him, I rushed across the living room and heard my neighbor yell "hey!" before he slammed his door.

What is this guy's problem???!!! My son crying a little, when he had been happy and good all day was enough to provoke this kind of response? That was extremely rude!

My husband keeps telling me to forget about it, but something about this really bothers me. It's as if our neighbor was trying to intimidate us or bully us into silence. A two-year old is going to have tantrums sometimes--that can't be helped. And when their son turns two they will relearn that soon enough.

This reminded me of the time when my son was a baby, and we were at a book store. He started to cry and some grumpy old guy turned around and said "shhh," as if he were a librarian with the right to enforce silence. I was so tempted to remind him that we were in a store, not a library, and while most customers are relatively quiet in a bookstore, there is no rule that requires us to be silent.

Some people obviously like to impose their will on others, even when it's none of their business. This has made me more determined to get a house!

Maybe if I get a chance to talk to his wife, I might find some answers. Otherwise, it seems that our neighbor is a grumpy guy, indeed. Grrrrr....

well all i can say is you have the patience of a saint, because id of been round by now, to put up with mental abuse like that is worse than pyhsiacal abuse ''i know'' if you dont mind me asking why havent you been round yet?i know confrontation isnt nice and i avoid it always but even so what is their problem is ,,when his wife is in on her own just knock on see if she wants to come round for a cup of something, then try to get around why her grumpy husband has a problem, with the not intened or be helpped noise, you have to get to the bottom of it or it will drive you insane, even now your saying you want to move, the last thing is yourself and husband to start falling out , so what will it be next a slammed door,, when your son is in fits of laughter,, ''but they prob wont like t either'',just invite your lovely neighbour !!!round for a drink of something, see if she can shed a bit of light on his behaviour, you may never know he is like it to her last neighour, and they moved due to their bad behaviour, try to clear the air and come to some comprimise, you are a very intelligant women im sure women to women should understsnd why you are upset by the behaviour he portrase''sp'' easpecially towards a toddler, remind her thet her baby will be going through the terrile 2s,, and he frigtens your boy,see if that pulls on her motherly instinc's,,then you dnt want to live them much longer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ggood luck my friend (hug) x

Thanks, guys. I found out from another neighbor that he just doesn't like noise at all. Maybe it's because he works construction. Last weekend a really loud party was taking place next door to our complex, and I heard him yell out the window telling the partiers to shut up, because there were people living here.

Just going out in the cold to smoke, and a Statie looking car is still at the neighbors after two or three smokes, and I see no activity there at all----just the car burning gas out in the street. I am nosy and want to know what's going on in there, but...
