Dear Kevin,
I've known you since I started teaching dance at your program, eight years ago.
You always had a smile on your when I came to your classroom and said, "Time for dance!"
You were always one of the first out the door.
You loved the Beatles and you could sing all of the songs from The Sound of Music.
Do you remember when I used to say, "Not the Beatles again!"
You would always laugh and ask for your favorite song, and I always relented.
You loved to dance!
I can still picture you moving your arms and doing those Elvis karate kicks that you liked to do.
I can't remember you ever being unhappy. You never had to worry about politics or the economy. I know you were sad sometimes, but it wasn't very often.
I remember seeing a change in you last year. You seemed more confused and I had to rub your palms to open your hands so we could dance together.
Downs Syndrome coupled with alzheimer's was so unfair..........and then the diagnosis came.............leukemia.
The last time I saw you, you were in a your wheelchair half asleep. When I played your favorite Beatles song, you lit up like the sun coming out from behind the clouds on a rainy day and, oh Kevin, how I enjoyed our last dance together.
They told me you passed away yesterday, and I felt like I had lost a very special friend.
You're the fourth friend I've lost this year.
I'll miss you Kevin.
Your very good friend and dance partner,
Pickers
P. S.- When you see Rosemary up there, ask her to dance! She's as much fun as you!
