are you a coffee person or a tea person? or are you one of those very, very few people who drink neither?

i'm a tea person, myself. i just don't like coffee very much. my favorite teas are lady grey, earl grey and darjeeling. i find that i'm very fond of jasmine teas when i can find them and the mrs and i once found a jasmine/earl grey blend that was delicious. :>

what about you? in the world of hot beverages, what do you like?

Hello. My name is happykat and I'm a caffeine-oholic. COFFEE!!COFFEE!!COFFEE!!COFFEE!!COFFEE!!COFFEE!! Although, i do drink tea from time to time. There's a blueberry tea that is surprisingly good. Mostly, it's coffee with additives.

I'm a tea person, too. I usually drink my Tetley Orange Pekoe; it's what I was practically raised on. I enjoy other teas, though, and I'm open to new tastes. I'm not a fan of Jasmine teas, however; I had a Jasmine Green Tea, and it was like drinking perfume. Made my hands smell pretty, though! ;)
• Chimaera said on Aug 17, 2006....
Both. I'm much less particular about my coffee, though. My tea of choice is a Darjeeling/Earl Grey blend my wife put together for me at a local little tea shop (yes, a local little tea shop with just about every kind of tea you can imagine). That and I enjoy a pot of Iron Goddess tea every now and again, especially the second steeping.

I'm more of a tea drinker than a coffee drinker, although I love a good mocha now and then. My absolute favorite is genmai cha - it's green tea with toasted brown rice. I like just about any green tea, jasmine tea, oolong tea, and plain old Lipton iced tea. There's a Mexican restaurant near us that makes the most exquisite fruit tea - they generally have fruit floating in it and it tastes like fruity, flowery goodness.

In the beginning there was the world and it was good. The Creator looked down upon the sleeping humans and thought, "They need a pick me up." Thus Coffee was created. Seriously, a good cup of hot, black coffee is the best thing in the morning.

both, depedning on my mood, the weather, the time of day in the summer, i am a big fan of iced coffee, iced mochas, and iced cappucinos; i tend to stick mostly to iced coffee that i make myself so i can control the calories and the amount of sugar in it. i'm also a big fan of iced tea when the weather is hot and humid. i really like raspberry iced tea, but peach tea makes me gag...well, actually, i hate peach anything, except for ripe fresh peaches themselves. ohh..and i love iced chai teas. when the weather is cooler, i turn to hot teas and coffee. i have an assortment of schuil's flavored coffees--chocolate marshmallow, french vanilla, peanut butter--that are fall afternoon staples. i also like seattle's best creme brulee coffee as a rich after dinner treat. and milestone's kahlua vanilla creme coffee is another favorite of mine but for my morning coffee i generally just prefer a really good dark roast with nothing added. when it comes to hot tea, i favor a madagascar vanilla red, then earl grey or darjeeling, and green tea. i stumbled across a very interesting chai green tea at one of the small shops here in town and it's actually a nice change of pace some days.

I can't drink coffee/tea with milk cause I'm lactose intolerant. So, that will leave me with only green tea. I love green tea or the chinese tea. It is healthy and soothing. To drink coffee without milk is too bitter. I will only drink coffee with milk if I know that I will not meet anyone on that day. Hehehe....you know. I'm lactose intolerant.

Hi, I'm Anarchist, and I'm a latte-holic. I love coffee. I can go as much as three cups a day and still be able to sleep at night. (Favorites: an Americano white chocolate, or just a Hazelnut latte) I can also drink teas and curl up with a good book on a rainy day. (Favorites: Black tea, Mint tea, Lemon tea, Strawberry tea) I guess it's relative to the mood I'm in but it's coffee, my first love.

SW, I have blogged about ||{1}|| on my first day here in SC. Yesterday, I was planning to blog about tea. But as you know it, I had a "family problem" that has got in the way. Anyway, I love both! I can finish 4 cups of coffee a day, with two cups of tea in between. My favorite coffee concoction is café mocha (which my boss detests because he says chocolate is for babies). But most of the time, I only get to drink brewed with creamer and a little sugar. As for the tea, my favorite is peppermint (which my friends say tastes like toothpaste). But I can always settle for jasmine, oolong, earl gray, or Lipton black. Fun to know that I'm not the only one who can sleep after a caffeine overdose. ;)

Silver, I had you pegged as a coffee drinker for sure. I'm definitely a coffee drinker. Every day. I never leave any in the coffee pot. A good medium roast coffee that can be brewed strong without bitterness. I add just enough skim milk to change the color. During the cooler months, after spending time outdoors, I like to heat up some apple cider with sour apple schnapps. This is really good after a day of skiing or snowshoeing, but also works after clearing the snow off the driveway.
• LittleMouth said on Aug 17, 2006....
I'll drink both but very rarely. I prefer tea, usually green whole leaf. The coffee has to be good quality or I don't like it at all and too much actually makes me sick.
• lottastyle said on Aug 18, 2006....
I am both. Depends on my mood. When I'm in a hurry to get to class or work, or pulling an all nighter, I go straight for the coffee, but if I want to relax or settle in for the evening I make a pot of tea. My favorite tea is Green Tea or Passion Tea. Coffee I drink black no fancy stuff.

Hello silverwhisper. I enjoy tea, and I believe part of the reaon I enjoy it is because I seldom drink it. Absence makes my heart grow fonder for tea it seems. Coffee however, is disgusting. I do not like the effects it has on the human body. Stained teeth, bad breath, caffiene personality quirks.. On the contrary, COLD coffee is sexy. Primarily Coffee Ice Cream. Specifically Stewart's Colombian Coffee Ice Cream. If you can only have one Coffee flavored ice cream for the rest of your life, it should be Stewart's Colombian Coffee. Don't know where you live, if you even know of the Stewart's chain of stores in the U.S., but that flavor is beyond divine.

Obviously we have a lot of caffeine addicts on SoulCast! I only have one or two cups of tea a day, but I get incredible headaches if I don't have it. I'm prone to headaches anyway, so maybe the lack of caffeine just aggravates that... I know some people get really nasty without their "fix". How about you, silverwhisper? What would happen to you if you didn't get yours? PS- My husband is one of the rare ones who don't enjoy either. Sometimes if I have a hot drink in the evening he'll have a cup of soup of something. It's nice when we go to a friend's house for dinner, though- he goes and entertains the baby while the rest of us enjoy a hot cup of tea!

Although I may be young, I am a COFFEE-ADDICT. However, as absurd as this may sound I was wondering how anyone could drink the black coffee...I tried it one day to stay up all night before an exam...but I ended up torchering my taste buds in a way I was not expecting. But, as much as I would hate to drink black coffee or plain bag-only tea I am definitely leaning towards the possibility. Adding sugar and whole-fat milk everytime a cup of coffee/tea is drunk is not the most healthiest thing in the world as opposed to a plain cup of black coffee. So the question how is it done ?
• cfamommy said on Aug 18, 2006....
whole-fat mil isn't your only option, lightuponlight. I drink my tea with 1% milk and I've "weaned" myself down to just a 1/2 teaspoon of sugar per mug- sometimes less. I don't know how much sugar you're used to, but I recommend trying low-fat milk. It tastes just as good- maybe better!

• JadeLondon said on Aug 18, 2006....
I like coffee and tea. But because coffee tends to give me severe heartburn, I usually stick with tea. There isn't much in the way of tea that I don't like. As long as I have sugar (no cream, please), I am happier than a pig in filth. This may seem like I have an unsophisticated palate, but my favorite tea is Lipton's Soothing Moments Raspberry tea (It is all natural, too).
• FaithfulDisciple said on Aug 18, 2006....
Coffee decaf or not is great. Mocha or cappucino is fine. Starbucks did a great way of reinventing coffee. I like brewed coffee after a hearty meal. I don't take coffee on an empty stomach.

Ach! STARBUCKS?! They did not reinvent coffee, unless you're talking about the way they burn their beans. That's why their coffee is so bitter. Ick. Try Torrefazione if you're looking for a decent cup of any coffee beverage in Seattle, or wherever else they distribute it.

Darjeeling tea is good for colour and flavour and Nilgiri for strength and taste. A blend of these two give wonderful taste.
I like my coffee brewed in the coffee filter. It has a glamorous smell and taste.

Honestly I am both but i prefer coffee over tea. I'm very fussy about coffee, I won't drink it if it's cheap, and yeah I can tell! Therefore I have the greatest coffee machine a home and buy my coffee beans from only one place in the market. I can't buy that grocery coffee, YUCK! My coffee has to have a punch, I can't drink weak coffee so I really like Italian coffee.

As for tea, a good jasmine loose tea is great for digesting after pigging out! I only buy loose teas from the market, sometimes I'll try different types but I always go back to my jasmine tea!
• LoriaAmnekia said on Aug 18, 2006....
I love both. When I don't feel good, I drink Mint Tea constantly. Lately, it's been Spiced Chai Tea or Vanilla Chai Tea. My mom always has coffee made up, whether it's cold outside or not. I have been making them both cold lately though.
• Cabernet said on Aug 18, 2006....
I'm into tea for the most part. I do ordinary black tea. I'd love to drink green tea, but I take it with milk and sugar and it always tastes like I'm drinking sweetened milk-water.

I used to drink coffee daily, but it's too much for my system... so I had to downgrade to tea. I drink decaf coffee with a little cinnamon at night and that's heavenly... but in the morning I drink tea.

I just got a new job and when my boss was trying to lure me, he says, we brew coffee all day, and grind our own beans... anytime you want some coffee, you just come on back and get some. heh, even though I don't drink it at work, it made me want to work there...
• Danj3ris said on Aug 18, 2006....
Your right Silverwhisper, coffee would have the same effects on the human body. What I meant was more of a personality type effect.

As strange as it may seem, I tend to get along with people who enjoy frozen coffee over hot coffee. It really doesn't make much sense. Kinda just one of those things that makes me me.

But seriously, try that flavor I suggested when you get a chance.

living on the island of Guahan, we are not exactly into hot beverages when its 93 outside and 102 in the concrete house. Those who do like coffee either live and work in total aircon or rather enjoy iced coffee. Myself I don't like the taste of coffee much either and prefer ice cold assam black tea, which also has the benefit of relieving migraines. And happycat...i am a true caffeine aholic. I drink soda most of the time and if I do not get enough in the day it causes a drastic change in the blood pressure to the brain and walah! a real migraine. Bad enough to wish for death.
