I spend the majority of my time at work...in the office.  I do telecommute some, mostly to accommodate my son's school/daycare schedule; but mostly I'm in the office daily.

And I have an office family.  We share way too much information, fight, rag on each other and at the end of the day love each other like we were true blood family.

There are only four of us in the department.  This works fine for me as I am not very social/extroverted and the more people you have the more personality issues.  Bad news for me.

So, let me introduce you to my fam:

There is L the diva.  We share an office and I love her to death.  And you can't tell her that her s*** don't stink.

There is M the mother.  I keep telling her she should have a talk show or at least a column in our company newsletter.

There is O our Big Papi.  Married but loves women; almost to his detriment.  But hey we need a man to help reduce the estrogen flowing between our offices.

There is R the boss.  She's only in the office two days per month.  And she is in love...I mean the you are making us sick to our stomachs kinda love.  Just thinking about it makes me gag and laugh.

That's my office family...I'll keep you posted on the comings and goings because they always are entertaining.

ok, i have an office family too, although i've been telecommuting now full time for the past 5 yrs.  i still consider them my "family" because we were together for 15 years, which is a long long time in a big company!

There's B*- he's my current boss and a big practical joker.  i swear you can't tell when he's pulling your leg or when he's serious!  he's divorced for the past 10 years and has 3 daughters in college-  he does NOT get along with the ex!

There's J* -he's my ex boss.  I began at the company when he did(20+ yrs ago) and since he's a great schmooooozer (nice word for bullshitter) he got promoted above me years ago-  His kids and my kids are the same age, and he tells THE BEST stories that will make you roll on the floor!

There's S* - she's been my friend for 20 years too.  She's a very butch lesbian who came out about 10 yrs ago....but all of us who love her already knew!  she adopted a baby from China who is now 6 and in the process lost her long time lover who didn't want to raise another family after having raised 3 sons.

There's K*  - she's from Long Island NY, and now lives in Colorado-  She speaks with the thickest accent you'll ever hear and i die laughing sometimes just hearing her talk.  She's a single mom with two teens-  her daughter is battling anorexia and she was sexually abused by the children of her ex's girlfriend.  She moved to Colorado to escape him, and once there, the abuse came out at the eating disorder place-
She's ultra smart and a real straight shooter....

I consider her my closest girlfriend.

And there's L*- who was my officemate for 12 years.  He and I had a kind of "marriage" - and we'd joke that we would argue like spouses, share our lives like spouses......everything except go home together!

I've written about some of these folks in my own blog....
