Once upon a time I lived with a lot of cats. When mine had kittens we reached all the way up to 13 at once. This is a lot of cats to have in one house at the same time. Especially when you can't let the cats out. So it was inevitable that there would be some spraying.
In fact there was a lot of spraying.
Cats crave stability. They are very insecure creatures in that way. First we traumatized them by adding 7 kittens to the mix. Then we traumatized them by subtracting 6 kittens from the mix. Then we traumatized them by splitting them betwixt us and each moving twice in 2 months. Then the ones with me got traumatized again by the addition of a very jealous and active Westie to the household. (For those that don''t recognize that's a Terrier.) Our cats became VERY insecure in their lives and cats spray when thats the case in order to assert themselves and mark territory.
Now I'd like to point out that cat piss is this >.< far from impossible to completely get out of something. I worked hard at it but I'm human and cat piss is cat piss. My clothes are being washed in white vinegar, my mattress is febreezed, baking soda'd, and bagged in a vinyl slip cover. I febreeze daily in general and apparently I still can't get rid of the smell. I say apparently because I can't smell it.
The room mate, who is also the land lord, can though and he does not like it.
So this is teh sux. I'm dealing with a phantom order I can't smell, can't find, and am having a devilish time getting rid of. It's looking like in order to make it go away I'm going to have to wash EVERYTHING with white vinegar and then color safe bleach, replace all my funiture, discard all my boxes, as many of my books as I can do without, and then replace the mattress as well.
That's $500 and a lot of time and effor to boot for something that I only know of through the annoyance of others. It is as frustrating as it is annoying. This is a pain that is going to linger.
