I wish I had a wife!
This may sound weird  'cos I'm a woman and, heck no, I'm not a lesbo..(I've nothing against them..to each her own.)
The reason I want a wife is, cos I think, women's lib or not, I end up doing much more of the work around the place than my husband does. Not just me, this applies to most of my girl friends.
I spend my one precious Sunday holiday cooking, cleaning, stocking up on provisions while my husband gets to do practically...nothing.
I hope to be reincarnated as the lazy husband of a hardworking wife in my next life if there is one...  .; )

hi sad, i often wished i had another me. Think of all the things i could get done.      My hubby is like that too. He cleaned the sink in the bath room the other day.         AWWWW    he was so excited. He sounded like a little kid, "look, look, look what i did. Doesn't it look shiny?"      My mom says to encourage him. Tell him he did a good job. All i could do was smile at him.  And, i'm thinking, 'good grief, we've been here 2 years and i think that's the first time he's cleaned that sink'?. argh.       day

Sad -- I feel for you, but you don't have to put up with that. My first hubb was like that too and he's history. No woman has to be a maid for any man - not today, especially if both of you work. What would happen if you told him you wanted to divide the housework? Or start with pitching in with a few things? You should not have to do all that alone.

oh how i can relate!  which you already know!

my husband will help around the house if i ask him to, but the regular chores belong to me-

i think what i'd like best, is if next time i could be the one who gets to wait to be "asked" to chip in, and my partner gets to carry the responsibility.

    Hey thanks girls!
my husband isn't all that bad...I don't really want to make him history...but just like secretlife's husband mine needs to be asked. Then he'll help, not otherwise!

The problem is when I'm whirling around getting things done, I want someone who'll realize what needs to be done and just does it without being asked.

You might find this little essay amusing:

    Why I Want a Wife (1971)
  • day2day said on Sep 08, 2008....

Once, when I was working in the ER, a nurse, out of the blue, blurted out that she wanted a wife.  We were all kind of taken aback, since we knew she was very happily married.  Then, when we discussed the matter, we all decided that we all wanted a wife too, and perhaps we could share a wife between the 3-4 of us.

There are many a day I resent being the one to have chores and more work to do after I'm off work.

Boy...no wonder wifes are such hot commodities...and on top of that, most of them are sexy as all get out.
    I want a wife too !

I wish I had a wife too. Not that I don't, but she lies in bed watching the Lifetime channel all day. I work 50 hours a week, do all of the grocery shopping, all of the laundry and most of the cleaning. I take out the trash, mow the lawn, do dishes when there are any. I haven't had a home cooked meal since Christmas. We all have our crosses to bear.

Sad - As a fellow woman and single mother I can totally relate except that instead of a wife I've always wished I had a small man, sort of elfish in my dreams, to do all the work that I'm tired of.  My friends call me a freak because I tell them that not only would he do housework but also be available to shave my legs in the shower so I don't have to get into all of those uncomfortable positions :-)

Heh, heh, looks like all the girls want wives too! Anyone want a husband?
    Eilan..I.enjoyed the essay!
theavenger...wouldn't mind having you over occasionally to visit :>)
Ronnie6...do you think a small elfish man would be less lazy than a huge ogre-like one? I wonder!

I so want a wife. I've always thought that, especially for women who work outside the home, full time, making the same money as their husbands, a wife should be mandatory. :( It's alarming to me that I can't afford a wife, even with the amount of money we make. I want a wife.
