I traveled through USA a short time ago with a couple of my friends and one of them said after the trip that it felt like a fascist country.

So much presence of the government. So much power that they had. You could not drink in your car, people stopped you if you opened a bear can and said that you could be fined. The border control were ridiculous etc.

I don´t know. Land of the free, where you cant drink one beer outside with out being afraid of the police. The most democratic country in the world with only 50% voters turnout.

I love the people of the USA, they are friendly and nice. Warm and cuddly, in my opinion. But I just wonder if the government is getting to strong and safety is the number one thing but not freedom.

there are laws against drunk driving because it can kill people. but you do raise a valid point. safety is a MAJOR concern in the USA.  i think there's far more police presence than government presense. of course it can be argued that the police are the government. but I have issues with both cops and politicians.
