**MissMimibella, this is dedicated to you. Hope to make you smile again....**

I like roses. They are my favorite along with hibiscus, Oriental lilies, orchids and jasmine.
So when he said: "Today we are going to the Botanical garden. There is an English garden too"
I said: "Great. Lets go"
The day was just slightly veiled by sporadic clouds. Gorgeous weather. We strolled along the many, winded green paths surrounded by bushes full of flowers and little signs telling the name and the origins of each plants. There were ponds where beautiful water lilies were lazily floating. Just like these ones.

And Gulliver was trying to catch a butterfly.

Gulliver @ Botanical Garden

Then we arrived to the large area where tons of roses of different color and smell were all aligned in a circle. I went crazy taking pictures of them. I think i took a pics of any single shade of rose.
These are the ones i like the most.

Oh, and this beautiful hibiscus too...

Pink Hybiscus

And then he said: "Now to my favorite spot. The Japanese Garden".

**Unique, these pictures are mostly for you because we were laughing thinking of your Japanese Garden photos... saying stuff like "She will be so jealous when she see these pictures"...lol......Again, guys, we had Soulcast in our mind even there.....;-D**

The scenery was just beautiful: thick bushes and shady, tall trees, street lanterns, Japanese trees, the sand garden with the stoned path for meditating, the waterfall. No koi fishes in the ponds, though.

Then....all of a sudden everything turned windy and grey.
In the matter of few minutes big black clouds gathered ominously upon our heads. We kept saying "Oh its coming, its coming"
But we just didn't want go back.
That was our day at the Botanical Garden, dammit. No stupid storm was going to ruin our fun. We were the only ones left in the garden.
I said: "Water, trees, storm. Lightnings. This is no good"
He didn't care at all: he was like a fish in the water (how apt....lol...). He likes this kind of electric manifestations of Mother Nature. Me? I am terrorized by lightnings..
.
And then the rain started. Big, fat, heavy drops fell on our heads. We had no other choice than starting to walk fast and faster toward the exit.
We were quite distant though so when we finally arrived at our car we were completely, positively, amazingly, totally soaked.
My hair were dumped, his ponytail was dumped, my jeans soaked, his jeans soaked, his glasses all wet, my leather sandals had turned dark brown.
He looked at me and said 'You could participate to a wet t-shirt contest, darling. And win it"

But it was just too fun. We couldn't believe how soaked we got..
And then, with a grin on his face he said:
"So...uhmmm.......would you mind to go to some place, soaked up as we are? Or do you want change your clothes first?
"No way. Lets go now. But where?"
"I want to buy me a toy"
Can you guess what kind of toy was he talking about?
I was wide eyes open by the surprise, i have to admit....:-)

So we went to this shop and browsed along the aisle full of any sort of fun and interesting toys.....uhmm......toys in miniature and full size, toys of any size, color and shape, with batteries, without batteries, with strings and leather and plastic parts. Very fun place, indeed.......
Still didn't get it?
At least could you guess this?
What do you think it happened when we went back to our room (with the brand new toy) to change our clothes?
I think you can guess this immediately.
Yes, i took a nice shower. That's it.....
Wha??? What were you thinking?......;-P
Aren't you a bunch of super smart people, you Scasters?

    Bad....i was surprised as well...

The Dallas Arboretum is one of the few things this city has to be proud of.....i mean......we have ponds with koi fishes huge like barracudas....no one single koi in Chicago, so i was a tad disappointed,  i have to say.......:-)

Please, post those pictures soon....i bet they are beautiful........

  • skald said on Sep 06, 2008....
What a lovely post and surely we can have good memories of rain. The pictures are so beautiful. I wanted to go to a new Japanese garden in Berlin but could not make it as daughter in law was always shopping. I will do it later, I hope.

I am happy for you Ginger. You sound so happy.

Oh and yes I used to have a rose like one of them on your picture.
  • MissMimi said on Sep 06, 2008....

gingerpeach, those roses are glorious.  Roses are one of my favorite flowers.

I admit, my mind went right down the same path  with Alyss and secret.   I won't even hazard a guess about what kind of fun you had with the new toy.  lol  now I'm blushing...

I'm just so happy for you and the GrapeApe.  It restores a lot of my joy in romance.

    Thanks for sharing.  :)

Skald....hope you can visit the Berlin gardens too.....i like to go in places like this one...its a way to fill the eyes with beauty and nature....Another magnificent place i visited years ago is the Versailles Gardens...just out of Paris. In Italy my favorite are the Tivoli Gardens with all the hundreds fountains and pools and stairs ...

  • Zayda said on Sep 06, 2008....
Ginger: Fabulous pictures; I especially love the first one of the water lilies. I think the flowers are gorgeous. (In fact, I rather think that picture would make a great tattoo.)  I bet it's too cold in the winter for Koi Ponds in the Botanical Gardens in Chicago.

It sounds like your day with Grapey was wonderful.

And I'm not venturing a guess about the toy, but like many others, my mind went south as well. LOL. ;)
  • gingersoul said on Sep 06, 2008....
Zayda..........the water lilies pic is my favorite too.....i like the contrast between the asphalt like color of the water and the pure white of the petals....
I like it so much that its my wall screen now....:-)

Yes, our day has been just great...thanks.

About the toy.....ehmmm...we decided that Grapey will have the honor to reveal the mystery.....

Mind went South, eh?....well.....after all Dallas is South of Chicago.....lol.....

Wow, this is a terrific blog just for the pics alone.  Yes, Ginger, I am jealous.  I love  the idea of the sand and rock path and BAM's pictures make me consider the drive to the LA area ........ but that's a long drive.

Toy shopping huh?  Where are the pics of the toys? ;)
  • gingersoul said on Sep 07, 2008....
Unique.....i knew you would have loved them.....seriously. you popped in our mind simoultaneosuly....it was "Man, Uni is going to love this stuff".....;0D

The sand and the rock garden were really beautiful......there was the gentle dripping of the water from small stoned fountain and no other sound...well...until the storm rushed in.......

We took other pics too...like this one ...the roof of a meditation covered point...it had a square stoned table and stoned seatings and the round window that overlooks another sand path...

About the toy....Grape promised to post its picture too...if he founds the gut to do it...i dared him....lol....

Ginger. I see you have put many more pictures now. I have visited the the Botanic Gardens in Berlin . They are near to where I usually stay but this new Japanese I have not seen. There are some other gardens there from other counties and I must see them

In Potsdam I have been to Sansousi,  I hope I spell it correctly. The gardens are much like the Versailles done after them.

I have heard about the Tivoli gardens but never been there. You know we, then I mean Scandinavians or the Danes, Copenhagen used to be our capital, named the most famous amusement garden there Tivoli too and there I have been some times.
