I took this from my back steps just before he decided to "fly" on down to my railing.  If it had been dark, I would have walked right into him...... eeek!!!! eweweeee! Me no like piders.

Sorry to say, after he made it to the rail.... I did him in with some bug spray... he is a goner now,  I know I am a murderer.

quiet- Can't see the hour glass on the belly, but it sure looks like a black widow to me.

    Kill'em all, I say!

    The brown recluse too.

you terrible murderer. What a good picture. Pálmi sent Þór in the house with a spider on his arm and thought I would scream but I just started looking at him. did not even know I was supposed to scream. lol.

meems ~  I am glad this guy was outside.  I would have had to spray my whole house had it been inside!  LOL

beyond ~ haha, I know its not a black widow, but it has eight legs and thats all it needed to be a dead one!

battycat ~  I wish I could sympathise with you!  I do know they are good for eating insects etc, but........ they are better dead! LOL

secret ~ he was fairl big, but this is a close up of him.  He was kind enough to stay still and let me take his pic before he met his death!

skald ~ Thor had a spider on his arm???  yuck!  I would have run!  Boys and their bugs and insects!  LOL

Well that's great camera work as always!  One more spider gone is ok with me!  I know they have their purpose--but that purpose is not to crawl around on you--or jump on you! And I hate walking into a web!

wombie ~ I am with you on all the above!!!  and I would have walked right into him had it been dark... ewe, just the thought!

vreidr ~ I went and checked out your poem!  :)

KMT ~ I agree!! He isn't so terrifying now though..... he's dead!

Taking a leap of faith, was it? I read they can't see well but then how do they know to jump from a high place? No fear. They are lighter and can land softly thanks to wind resistence from their legs. And in a worst case scenario they can cast a line. I guess this one just didn't count on the bug spray. What impresses me most is that you got the photo!

  • quietone said on Sep 06, 2008....

hotaka ~ I think spiders can see and also sense that one is scared to death of them!  I know this from experience!  LOL  This one, was casting a line, but waited for me to get the photo... little did he know he cast a line to his death!

queenie ~ Hey, I am with you girl!  do you have big spiders where you are??

  • queenparanoia said on Sep 06, 2008....
