Could YOU serve as President?

Does a president have to follow a specific curriculum to qualify? Could one of your kids be involved in a pregnancy? Should you have to be a career politician to be President? What other jobs or professions might build good credentials to lead politically? Does the presidency have to be a political position? Should it be?

I am over-qualified for the office but will be more than happy to serve as an emergency presidential advisor.

I think I'm at least as qualified as Sarah Palin. And I agree, I don't think  the founding fathers particularly cared about the profession or background of the president.

Most of the early presidents had several professions, didn't they? Soldier, farmer, lawyer, politician, plantation owner, merchant...

It's nice to see people brought in from outside the regular establishment...

But it ususally just gives the establishment a chance to regroup and come back stronger than before...

Obviously if you're a good Actor you have a good chance at getting some votes - so as Reagan proved, interchangable skills...it's all a big show ain't it?

I have the right to have my own list of qualifications as does every voter. Obama does not have enough time in the Senate for me, I would like to see more of a voting record, if a person has a twenty year voting record you are pretty clear on where they are politically. I am not going to just trust the guy, he came out far to the left and now has gone to the center, his very short voting record shows he is far to the left, but with maturity he may move politically to the center, then I would consider voting for him, Mc Cain has a clear record of fiscal conservatism and has voted toward the center many times. I am voting Mc Cain, let's see what Obama does in the next four years as Senator and I will give him another look. And no I would not be good serving as President. I'd start a war or two for damned sure.

Lincoln’s pre-presidential experience in public office consisted of one term in the U.S. House, several terms in the Illinois Legislature and a brief tenure as postmaster of New Salem, Ill. He was also an unsuccessful merchant, a successful lawyer and a twice unsuccessful candidate for the U.S. Senate.

Is it obvious only to me?

All Presidents should be former astronauts. Only former astronauts should be allowed to run. And only those who have been in orbit and back.

If you're willing to light that kind of fire under your ass, you're qualified.

something - don't you wonder why Fred Thompson, a professional actor, did so poorly with the American voters?

I don't think he's an actor at all. Have you ever seen him do anything challenging? Actor-wise, I mean? He's just kinda being himself in most roles, isn't he?

    stonie - LOL

president of the US has the fewest actual requirements of any high-profile job in the world. seriously, native-born US citizen & 35 years of age? jeez, that's just ridiculous. we need to get a lot more selective with this one!

I could be President, but there would be a lot of unhappy people in America after I took over. I am much more qualified than Obama. Vote for me and watch welfare, other LBJ type social programs and foreign aid be eliminated. I will require all able bodied citizens under 65 to work. I will deport illegals, guard the borders with military firepower with orders to shoot intruders. I will end the wars by either winning them or totally destroying the enemy.(still a win)

I will lower taxes to the bare minimum, 1950s levels or less. Vote for me.

Sarah Palin would be a disaster for the Republicans,
in my humble opinion.
