KRISHNA LEELA
Arjuna and Subhadra traveled a long distance from Dwaraka. They were reaching near by Indra prastha. At a very beautiful atmosphere they stopped their chariot and enjoyed the surroundings with enthusiasm.
Subhadra told to Arjuna “I am happy indeed to have the grace of my brother Krishna who has shown so much of affection and accepted my willingness to choose you as my husband.
Arjuna in a reply to her view told “Krishna is not only the close realizes but now he is my brother in law-I should thank the almighty to his profound genorousity to catch hold of your pretty hand as a husband”.
“It is really a boon indeed; I have become the wife to Valliant prince of Indraprastha”. Subhadra uttered this with gratitude.
Arjuna responded to her “we are five brothers and we have our noble mother “Kunthi”. She is the queen. Her words are really laws to us. Now you are one among the members of the family of Pandava”.
“I am indebted to become the daughter in law to Rani ma Kundhi Devi”- It gives me the honour; gives me the pleasure and happiness- I am proud to be with you” said subhadra.
“You are young girl and do not know much about the family of mine- when your brother Krishna killed Kamsa, the country and the capital Madura came again to the hands of Kamsa’s father. Then Krishna had to go to Aranya (forest) for his studies which took several years- and during that period only your birth took place. Matha Devaki was the first wife to your father. Krishna was the son to Devaki and your mother Rohini was the second wife to Vasudeva. When Krishna is most gracious and considerate with you, it is your fortune and when I become his brother in law it is my fortune”. Arjuna added these events in his narration.
“Several times my brother Krishna spoken to me about your abilities and talents; more over, your strong will and duty consciousness were the highlights of information’s given by my brother Krishna”. Subhadras responded like this.
“One important matter I should tell to you- our marriage and Krishna’s blessings are still the secret affairs- when we reach Indra Prestha my mother, brothers and respectful guru Dromacharya may wonder and even ask about my individual decisions-they can find fault with me- they can even consider our marriage as disobedience- it lies in your hands to convince them and possess the proper place with all these elders”. Arjuna unfolded his confusions in this way.
For a moment Sabhadra thought herself deeply and replied “My kind husband, I understand my position and it is surrounded with duties. The merit to the elders and the submissive nature with all the family members and the habit of obedience are the main gates to get the blessings of one and all. More over I heard about your victories against the king of Thoupatha country. On the orders of your reverenced teacher Dhronacharya, the invasion against the country was done by you. It was the duty of a disciple and you have done it to respect the teacher. When the king was defeated by you, he made a great penance and possessed the daughter Dhroupathi from the sacred five. The king with the intension to give her in a marriage to you; he succeeded and had the honor of getting you as son in law. I know the affairs and will give all respects to her”.
The heart of Arjun was over flowing with gratitude and he felt with a sense of deepest love towards Subhadra. Arjuna continued to explain circumstance with full details.
“It was an incident of competition conducted by the King Throupatha- Bow and arrow were the weapons. On a tricky dias, the fastest moments of bird like dolls were arranged to fly. The conducting operatore will name the bird and colour. The compititers should aim the particular doll, that too on a reflection of figures in a big bowlful of water. In a perfect explanation this applies to mirror. The distance and speed may very time but it should be knocked down in only one hit. That was the main and important competition. People surrounded in the arena would laugh at the faulters and clap hands if any one wins the event. I participated that competition in a form of a Brahmin. My brothers too accompanied me. I was able to win the game also. The king in his turn should reward the winner. He did it not with gold and silver, but he offered his daughter in a marriage to me”.
After a small pause, Subhadra spoke to Arjuna “person with abnormal talents and skill should have their due positions in the human society. When the king is offering his daughter whole heartedly, it could not be avoided in such a victorious juncture”.
Arjuna added further “when my self and my brothers came to Indra prestha ‘Rani Ma’ was all alone in her chamber. I asked my elder brother Dharma to convey the happenings to Rani Ma Kunthi. My brother entered into the chamber.
‘Rani Ma Kunthi’ asked first about the welfare and then the nature of travel. Brother Dharma conveyed her with usual replies and specifically opened the topic of Arjuna’s marriage in a funny way. He explained her that they had brought a precious fruit to the palace. Since Kunthi ma was always with the opinion that all her five sons should live unitedly and happily, she ordered her son Dharma to share the fruit with all of the five brothers. She did not know the fruit which was actually related with “Dhroupathi”.
Kunthi Devi un mindful of what the fruit should be, she had uttered the word to share. Thus the queens word was obliged and the five brothers had to live with Dhroupathi.
Arjuna’s long explanation was heard silently by Subhadra and she smiled a while and began “Queens word, obliging sons, united living no controversial thoughts- all are peculiar but binding with justice- In this big family I now enter as new burdon- my dear husband I am anxious to join hands with you ever and ever and also in my forth coming births. God dictates the way I should follow your fort prints pleasingly take me home”.
Soon the charriot entered the city. The news spread all over and the people came to know Sri krishna’s sister had come down as the wife to Arjuna.
Queen Kunthi Devi had heartfelt regards to Krishna. By relation also Kunthi Devi was the aunt to Krishna. She welcomed the couple and brought them inside the chamber. Subadhara and Arjuna touched the feet of Rani Ma and had her blessings. Rani Ma provided all facilities for living of couple.
Elder son Dharma raj paid the visit to Rani’s chamber. He greeted the couple. Dhroupathi with all her willingness greeted Subhadra. The royal palace was well decorated and their relatives of Thrutharastira and his sons were also invited to attend the occasion. They were actually cousins and were jealous nature. Indra Prestha was planned to be occupied by means of dice game. Saguni the close relative to both pandavas and gauravas (thru the rastira’s family name) he was the tricky man to spoil the mind of Dhuriyodhana the cousin of pandavas. Hasthina pura was the country belonging to gauravas. The desire, greediness and cunningness were the root cause for doing injustice. The family of pandavas was known for broad minded nature and generosity. This was the situation at which Subhadra had to begin her family life.
