For a large part of my life I sat on the fence...I was an agnostic...not sure whether to believe in God or not.
But over the last few years my faith has strengthened tremendously. Part of it due to a lot of reading I've been doing and part due to certain personal experiences. One of which I'm relating...
Around eight years ago, my husband and I were in a terrible situation financially. He had no job at the time and a large part of my salary had been deducted towards tax. My child was ill and and I was desperate. I had no idea where I would find the money to look after my family.
In my despair I did what most people do...I prayed. I wept, I railed against God...I had been working as hard as I could and still I was not able to support my children...of what use were the promises in the bible...about the lilies of the field, and the sparrows who neither toiled nor worked ,but were looked after?
I prayed more intensely than I had ever done in my life.
Imagine my incredulity and my relief when that very evening I received a phone call from a lady I had never heard of, offering me a contract to write content for an educational CD and promising me a sum which was four times my monthly income, beginning with an advance to be paid as soon as I signed the contract. I was sure someone had heard my prayer.
Sure it could have been a coincidence, but I prefer to think a mother's prayer was heard and answered.
After that, I decided I'd read as much as I could about religion, philosophy, science, anything that would help me in my search for faith. Today I count myself among those who believe in a God who not just created this absolutely wonderful universe, but who also cares for the least of his creatures.

hi sadsack,My husband is agnostic. He says it would take God coming to him and telling him personally the reason for all the misery in his life. Luckily for me, i was shown the pure love of a higher power at work. I had a vision at one time about 7 years ago.Most people say i dreamed it. I don't care what they think because i know what i saw. It was a small miracle, but it turned my life around. In the very end, all there really is, is love. Sorry to go on and on. And, nice to meet you.day2day -

No, there is o God. And if there is, he's a bastard. But as long as you don't go around screwing up the world I don't much care what you think. All the way up until you start teaching ID in school, or witholding funding from AIDs prevention programs that provide condoms. At that point you become an enemy, but until then carry on! -

I wrote a book called, "John David, Healer from God." It is on my blog. Just look for the tag "Dobbs." It may help you tremendously.Also, if you are so inclined, study quantum physics. Don't be intimidated by the name of it. There are a lot of reader-friendly books out there at the library. It shows you the true nature of matter and energy. Why does that matter? It demonstrates that everything is made out of NOTHING. It shows that God is the only reality and He is not matter or energy. Rather this concept of matter and energy is just a manifestation of God which is given us to enable us to live in a useable environment. Things you experienc every day demonstrate God exists if we can only understand better what we do see and what we don't.If we only look with our eyes we perceive the world one way and we think, "is that all there is?". Looking deeper it is something completely different. We see God's handiwork. -

day2day, I agree with you..God has to be the ground of all that is good, true and beautiful...love. The more I look at the intricacy and beauty of the world around us, the more I wonder how I could have been an agnostic.
SeanRenaud, I don't think that because I believe in God everyone should share the same opinion. My own brothers are downright atheists...and I'm okay with that because they are wonderful people of integrity. So there's no question of me going out and 'screwing up' the world(cringe). I'm not a frequent blogger due to time constraints so I'm not sure what alien is all about, but please, please....I don't think I'm cast in the same mould....

Rollingc, God's ways are bound to seem mysterious to us. How can we compare our minds to the Mind of God? Its worse than expecting my pet dog to understand quantum physics....which brings me to WriterCarlDobbs...I am a postgraduate in Physics,so I have studied a fair amount of quantum physics.
