From my Sister Norma-Dell

I don't think that I have ever told this little part of my history. So I'm going to  copy a little part of what I have written for you. Donna Browning and I were good friends, she lived down the canal bank from us. One day we were supposed to be watching Joseph. We got interested in braking open pomegranates and seeing how full we could fill our cups before we ate them. When we realized tiny Joe was missing. We were very frightened and we went every where looking for him. Having that big canal right there made it all the worse. We found him in the rabbits pen with the rabbits. We had gone right past him a number of times. The rabbits were white ones and Joseph's hair was white.
An other time Dad nor any of us could find Joseph. I was running down the canal bank crying and calling for him. This time dad found him under the house with the chickens. The house was up on cement blocks and the chickens would go under there becouse it was cooler. Joseph was really my first baby. I was 11 years old when he was born. Mother had been anemic while she carried him. Dad told mother that Joseph looked like a little wrinkeled old man. I remember singing to him and rocking . He could not keep his milk down. The doctor had mother try all kinds of things to help him, they did not have all the baby formulas then as they have now and she would just have to give him up and that was goat milk. So mother went and got some to try, it was perfect. Mother then bought a goat and had it tested. How happy I was.
