To me, it seems like most of the conversations that take place here in SoulCast are based on sex. The "featured posts" section of today includes about 4 sex-tagged entries. And that's the lowest number I've ever seen since I've been here. Most of the times, most of the tags are sex and related stuff.

Is sex so important? Is it so fundamental for the very existence of SoulCast? I mean, is it really necessary to have to write an entry on sexual topics to be noticed by the majority here? Most sex-tagged entries get at least 30 to 40 views in a short time. Seems like, if you want to be featured, you gotta take a sex topic, and go nuts writing.

I would really like to get views without having to recur on the usage of a sexual topic. And I know it's possible to do so. No one ever said that the good way was the easy way.

Saludos.

P.S: I mean, it won't even surprise me if this gets - 90 views... Yes, minus ninety.

There are alot of other topics besides sex. You don't want to read about sex, you bypass those entries. I think you're being unfair.

Yes, secretlife, I know there are more topics besides sex. I was just pointing out that those sex-related stuff are one of the most abundant, to say the least; and are the ones that get the most clicks, too (based on what I've seen). And I don't read them. I just think that most of us people who aren't into writing about sex or the likes will never get out of the indifference here. Unfair with who? Now that I re-read it, the last line may have come out the wrong way. Of course there's people who like writing about sex, and I respect that. What I'm stating is that I think there are people who just write a sex topic to get popular, not because they enjoy it. Hence, the "easy way" to get recognized.

Before TheNakedProfessor passed on he entered about 40 posts to his blog (a lot of them are gone now) and only a couple were directly about sex and he is still on the most popular list. If you look under "Most Viewed" and "All" you'll see his post "America Is The World" with 860-some hits and 130=odd comments and it has nothing to do with sex. In fact most of the posts in "Most Viewed/All Time" for the first 3 or 4 pages have little to do with sex. But like the Professor used to say, everything has something to do with either Sex or Death.

lol dreamknightx I think he might have a point about everything relating to either sex or death. i say write whatever you want to. that's the whole point of this website. Don't look at it as a clique or club otherwise you'll be disappointed for sure. Then see what happens.

Dreamknightx: Nice of you to point that out. Don't know what it is, it's just that this past week... most blogs I went to had at least something to do with sex. I couldn't help but wonder if that was what it took to become popular here. Yet, it seems like if you're really good (as TheNakedProfessor), you can thrive. secretlife: I'll remember those words. And this is so diverse, I won't ever dream of seeing this as a club. Saludos.

that's why you can browse the site different ways. Try using the 'my_tags' tab on the homepage or clicking on the tags that you are interested in from the 'popular tags' section on the left hand nav.

Thanks for the tip, but I'll see no use to that, since what I like of here is the diversity of subjects. Hence, I like surfing the site by the most natural way: if the title and the description get to me, it gets a click. Being mad or disgusted at the sex topics is not really the topic of my entry...

Some of us post whatwe know will get clicked, and some of us post what we need to express. And sex is way near the top in both those camps. In the end, we all like a little variety, but the proportions will vary.

Keep on posting what you like to discuss and a "a community" will form around your topics, most likely some like minded people. Then since they see your, you can see theirs.

yeahbutnobut: Very interesting (and true) comment of yours. Sex is a sure thing when you want to get clicks, yet some do it because they like to.
