So it is Barack Obama and Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket for President.  In my opinion I think this was a good choice for Obama, Biden brings the experience factor to a manageable level.  Regardless of experience, charisma, or anything else the Obama/Biden ticket is doomed from the start.

Joe Biden is another socialist Liberal who seems to occasionally drift off.  With an exception of his pro-Iraq stance, well at least pro-Iraq going in, he is: pro-choice, anti-gun, one of the global warming sheep, pro-socialized health-care, pro-tax, pro-gay marriage politician who has seemed to stick around for a long time.

I personally do not like Joe Biden because he was part of the debacle that was the Waco hearings.  I lost a lot of respect for my government during those hearings simply because they were suppose to find the truth and it was turned into a partisan cover Bill Clinton's ass session.  There is also his rigid and ridiculous stance on guns which in my view make a politician look uninformed and stupid.

So as a conservative I say to the Obama/Biden ticket, "bring it."  There are loads of Joe Biden comments like this:  "Q to Joe: What would you do to ensure that all Americans are able to cast a free and unfettered vote and that that vote be counted?

A: The history of racism has been punctuated with an effort on the part of the powerful to keep black Americans from voting. It used to be originally slavery, then all the laws relating to poll taxes and now we have not enough polling machines in black neighborhoods, not enough poll workers, old machines, deceptive practices, saying you can and cannot vote, intimidation. It all comes down to a basic thing. It comes down to the effort to deny you, because of the racist attitudes of so many people, the right to be able to determine your own future." 2007 NAACP primary forum.

There is a reasonable sensible side of Joe Biden.  He has recognized the threat in Iraq and is very pro-civil rights and voted yes on partial birth abortion bans.  There are a few other things I could say that are admiral but as a conservative his voting record is terrible.  He is the embodiment of that socialist tax and spend liberal with that touch of religious contradiction that John Kerry has.  To be Catholic and pro-abortion is beyond comprehension to me.

In the end it will be Joe Biden's own words, his MBNA stain, and his voting record along with Barack Obama's continued demonstration he himself is a novice, the William Ayers connection, the Reverend Wright thing, the Tony Resco connection, all these things together are going to sink them.  We are in a difficult time with the energy crisis, terrorism, the economy, the world economy, rogue countries, and on and on.  This country is not going to elect two radicals to the most powerful positions in the world.

After these last four years I think we'd elect a bobble head and a goat to get away from the Republican Party.

That said I'm just now starting to look into Biden's history and I'm not sure if he helps or hurts.  I agree with most of his social stances  (I agree with your idea that a prochoice Catholic is essential a liar  But so is a Christian scientist.)

I'm still uncertain if it helps or huerts in the long run or more importantly who would have been a better choice.

See I don't understand this mindset, if you look outside the hate mongers I don't see where we've faired that badly, even under a Democratically controlled Congress for the last two years.  The economy is bad because of energy and the subprime crap.  The first can be pinned on both partys and the second cannot be applied to either.  We haven't been attacked, Iraq didn't turn into a full scale civil war, we've beat Al Qaeda senseless, we kept people employed, we averted a recession.

As a whole I don't see it as all roses but at the same time we are not doing to bad.

Sarah Palin would be a disaster for the Republicans,
in my humble opinion.
