I always described my sleep pattern as strange because I conk out after supper in the early evening, then wake up a few hours later, I'm up and down, and I get sleepy sometimes around 12 or 1 in the afternoon.

But according to Seth, I'm the normal one and the rest of the world isn't. Seth says that we should never sleep through the night, it's unhealthy. He says we should pretty much do what I'm doing, and that pattern will benefit our health. A few hours at night, up and down, a nap here and there, conk out after dinner, conk out in the afternoon for a while, get rest when your body needs it.

He says the cavemen never slept through the night. They woke up several times, stayed awake, scouted around, had physical activity at night. Ånd that is described as something good. He says we hypnotize ourselves into thinking we're supposed to sleep through the night, but we're not.

We do it to babies. We want them to sleep through the night and leave us alone. That is considered a step in the right direction. Babies are "wrong" for not doing that. According to Seth, babies are right for not doing that.

My health is pretty good actually, for an ancient of 57 years old. I'm on no drugs. A dental hygienist once told me that I'm amazing for not being on any medication at all, at my advanced age. Her husband is on all kinds of garbage. High blood pressure medication, whatever. Lipitor. Thisandthat. I don't know if she's right about people in their 50s generally being on drugs.

I think you are tying together two things that may be unrelated.  I may be wrong in my opinion, but generally speaking general health is usually related to genetics and lifestyle.  Sleep is but one component of that lifestyle.  Not to say that NOT getting the right amount of sleep can't hurt you.  It certainly can.  But that in and of it's self is rarely the deciding factor in health levels.

I'm not sure I agree with Seth on the sleep thing.  I do think a lot of people over sleep and under sleep.  A nap is a good thing too.  I believe that you have to obtain several sets of the sleep cycles in order to optimise the benefits of sleep.  Every individual is different, so you need to listen to cues from your body.

It seems to me that your drowsy moments are fairly close to your meal times.  Is it possible that your body is just trying to efficiently digest, so it pulls the blood toward the belly, thus depriving extremities.  That being said, the slow down of peripheral blood circulation might trigger the brain to shut down (or get sleepy).

    Just my thoughts
