Remember the 12 published Danish cartoons making fun of islam earlier this year? The cartoons that led to heavy (sometimes violent) protests from the islamic people because it showed Mohammed with a gun shouting terrorist slurs? You know what happened? They striked back.
In sixty countries, 1100 cartoons making fun of the Holocaust in the Second World War, were drawn. No less than 204 of them are being published in Teheran (capital of Iran), and are actually saying the Holocaust is 'an exaggerated myth'. That were the words of the Iranic president, Mahmoud, who, earlier this year, claimed that 'all Jews and Israel should be burnt/destroyed/killed/mutilated/tortured (pick one)'.
Are cartoons which are claiming the Holocaust was fake supposed to be funny? Millions of people suffered in the KZ's, and yet, now, 'as a response', people say it's not true?! Yes, the Mohammed cartoons weren't the smartest ones to publish, but at least they didn't attack millions of people directly. These cartoons do attack people directly. Example below.
Grandchild: 'Hey grandpa, Auschwitz was horrible, eh?' Grandpa: 'Yeah, I lost all my friends.' Grandchild: 'Lies. You're just exagerrating, disgusting old Jew!'
and compare it to this:
Ali: 'Hey Achmed. Look at this cartoon. It says Mohammed is supporting terrorists. It's from a Danish guy.' Achmed: 'What an asshole. It are lies. Well, then Mohammed has an axe to grind with him. Now get on with your work.'
See the difference? Grandpa was attacked directly, and Achmed, while (perhabs very) upset, didn't have to feel attacked, because the cartoon wasn't meant to attack him personally. However, if you've bad memories from KZ's and people tell you to shut up because it ain't true, you are directly attacked.
No, some people had to calm down instead of this very childish revenge. Unfortunately, they didn't, and now we've got 1100 cartoons that scream: 'Haha, this is our childish revenge.' What a waste of paper and ink.
