WENATCHEE - An alarm that broadcasts directly to the primary police radio frequency has been purchased by the Wenatchee Police Department, thanks to money raised by a local accounting firm.
The portable system may be loaned out to local businesses that have been the target of break-ins, a news release from Wenatchee police noted last month. The system uses infrared and pressure sensors to detect an intruder, then alerts officers using prerecorded broadcast messages.
Police say the system also could be loaned to residents concerned about burglars, or domestic violence victims with safety concerns who can use a hand-held sensor to alert police of a problem.
Funding for the alarm, purchased for just under $2,000, was provided through a car and dog wash event in June of last year sponsored by Cordell, Neher & Co.
