I'm rooting against Phelps to win 8 gold medals. I hope his remaining relay team doesn't win gold, or he doesn't make the team, but he'll make the team even if he doesn't make the team. They'll force him on. What do I care if that guy wins 8 gold medals. The hell with him. I don't care how hard he worked for it. Like he's the only person who worked hard for something. I'm all phelpsed out. I was not sucked into rooting for this guy to win everything in sight the way it's been stuffed down our throats.
I was turned off by the way NBC covered the third place winner of a women's footrace while ignoring the first and second place winners. The third place winner was a white American girl. The first and second place winners were black women from overseas. They were Completely ignored, and I mean Completely. The camera only focused on the bronze medal winner, getting a closeup of her wrapping an American flag around herself, zooming in on her stupid mother in the stands. I was embarrassed for the network.
I like watching the Olympics and I find myself rooting for the Americans. Just to put the above comments in perspective. One of the highlights, so far the very biggest highlight, was when the American women's fencing team swept all three medals. I was so happy for them. I also root for both American women beach volleyball duos. Surprisingly, I'm a Yay America fan of the Olympics, but not when it goes too far.
Watching Phelps win more and more and more is like watching Derek Jeter do Ford commercials. Derek, you make like 15 million a year for Christ's sake. You need to do commercials too? Let somebody else do the fucking commercials for that car company, Found On Road Dead Ford. Have the class to turn it down, not because Fords suck, but because you already have way too much and others don't. I once owned a Ford Taurus. It was the only car I ever had that broke down and had to be towed home, and was not a battery problem, it was a car problem. Give me a Toyota any day. You'll never have a problem with it. You'll get 200,000 miles out of it easy, and the only reason you'll ever get something new is just to get something new.
