Imagine if when you signed up, there was a clause we all missed that said you agreed to participate in "Special Projects". Now imagine finding out that this place is really being run by Homeland Security - and they're happy with the hive mind buzzing here. This is really their training program and they're ready to take this to phase three.
Homeland Security appears at your door and informs you that in the interests of national security, they're going to take you and your immediate family living with you away to a special facility to discuss topics of national importance for the next two years, for which they'll pay you an annual wage of $40,000. In the mean time, the FBI and the US Marshall service will be "renting" your home out as a government safe house. You get to pack two suitcases each to bring with you.
The special facility facility is an underground bunker built in rings. The top ring is Blue ring, administration and security, then the rest are residential until they reach the Gold ring at the bottom where stuff like sewage is processed. Each level has its own cafeteria/central meeting area, gym and sick room. Dorm-style bathrooms with showers. You will be assigned a room based on your popularity here - but if you've used an Alt, it's averaged between all your various identities here. Frit they're going to stake out on the mountain side for the coyotes.
Each family/individual is assigned to a 10' cube with a maximum occupation of 3. Large families will get additional cubes next door. At the moment, each cube contains a pair of bunk beds, an overhead light and a phone next to the door. Two power outlets are in each wall, four feet up from the floor. There is a cable tv connection on the front and back walls & a second phone jack on the back wall.
To make nice, each family unit gets an allowance of $10,000 to dress up their cubes. Individuals in their own cube only get $4,000. It's on a card, you can't keep the balance. How are you going to dress up your cube you'll be living in for the next 2 years?
