This week I have me a meeting at ACC with my ACC case worker, my doctor (GP), my occupational therapist/s (I think they're both going to attend), my home help co-ordinator, DH and myself. I think ACC is looking at closing my case soon.
One OT has let me know she's not coming to work with me this week as we've already had our twelve officially approvied sessions. T'other OT isn't coming htis week either (but gave no hint of our sessions having finished).
The man who owns the treadmill hire service has collected the treadmill on Monday. Now I have nowhere to walk except around inside the house (it only takes 55 seconds to do a lap) or on clear days out to the gate and back.
I can these days do so much more for myself than I could about three weeks ago. I have even been able to vacuum the whole house. I can also prepare meals (except not putting things into or out of the oven) and see to laundry (a big day was managing to get washing out onto the line and then off from the line!).
But as I still get sorta dizzy and sorta wobbly after exertion or being too long on my feet or sitting upright without changing position, there's no way I'm ready for returning to work.
Sure I could easily do office admin work for a couple of hours - but I don't appear to be employable when I see myself through the eyes of someone hiring (as I used to be in a position to do), so I know how bosses think, yeh?)
I'm 57 years old, grey hair, glasses like bottle-ends, using a cane (or sometimes a walking frame). If I were hiring, and had to pick that woman or a thirty year old, guesswho'd not win the job. Hhmmm?
However, one line of hope... DH came home from night class (he tutors) with news that one of his adult students has said her employers are talking about taking on another office wallah part time in a few months. So I may have a door to slip through when I'm stronger - here's hoping.
