I had the opportunity to drink some wine this weekend. Courtesy of my 14 year old daughter.
She works with her dad doing locksmithing work when she's with him. Often times when they work at wineries the winery will throw in a couple of bottles of wine at the end. Apparently she was part of one of those deals and the winery threw in a case of very good wine. She, bless her ever loving heart, snagged out a bottle and brought with her this last time I picked her up.
It's a bottle of 2005 Chateau Boswell Cabernet Sauvignon. I have seen it retail for about $100 a bottle, though I think that's a little much. It's definately in the $50-60 range. I don't drink in this range very often any more, so I was pretty excited to see that bottle. We opened it last night with some country style BBQ ribs, fresh salad veggies and corn on the cob. Seems a little top end for that fare, but it turned out nicely.
Definate oak tanens and smooth finish. (I probably should have opened it 1/2 hour before pooring so it could breath) I like my wines a little sweet when they're red and this one didn't disappoint. Bill had a glass too and after about 1/2 the glass we both agreed that while it was "hard to drink" it was "hard to stop drinking". I'm thinking this wine would go very well with a highly spiced red meat. The sweetness would balance out the spice.
Now don't think I'm a know all, snobby expert. I just like sharing the news about an interesting bottle now and then. ;)
