Security solutions vendor Trend Micro has unveiled its Worry-Free Business Security 5.0 product, which is tailored for the needs of small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). It said the new solution provides such businesses with smarter, better-performing technology to combat threats from the Internet.

“As more businesses turn to the Web for expansion, many will find that they are inexperienced at implementing a secure work environment,” said Trend Micro Malaysia principal consultant Victor Lo. He also said that about 40% of small businesses have a mobile workforce, “hence it is paramount that a security solution extends beyond the office and protects users wherever they go.”

Trend Micro’s Worry-Free Business Security 5.0 has a “location-awareness” feature that automatically adjusts the protection level on mobile devices and laptops when these machines are used outside the office. Other features include a hosted multilayer spam protection system that blocks unsolicited messages and scans e-mail for viruses. All filtering is done at Trend Micro’s datacentre, which helps stop spam and viruses before they reach the customer.

“Worry-Free can also generate reports for the end-user to give them a better idea of how their overall security system is performing,” Lo said. “Such security is critical in today’s business environment and small businesses must have a simple but comprehensive solution, so that they can focus on serving their customers better,” he added.
