A comic of huge perportions has left the stage. He was hospitalized for pnemonia a complication of lung disease I hear. He was a huge talent and very funny. He cursed but he had a way of making you see the point. I thought he didn't look right. I thought he was sick with something. So sad. Bye Bernie. Say hi to God and the kids probably aren't as bad up there as they are down here.

i just found this awhile ago... me and my brother are sad about this... we love bernie mac and i think it's sad because a lot of more things to offer at this world... my condolences to his family... -

I couldn't believe this...it happened so fast! In the hospital for only a week! I feel like I read that he'd be released from the hospital just yesterday!He had sarcoidosis, a rare autoimmune disease that didn't make it easy for him to battle the pneumonia.My thoughts are with his entire family, both relatives and comic family.Daily -

I think it is amazing he was able to keep this under raps and keep working to the very end almost. I will miss him as many others will too I'm sure. Somewhere someone will leave a stage empty with a spot light on it in tribute for Bernie. -

I knew who Bernie Mac was, but I can't say I ever saw any of his shows, comedy work, etc. If I did, it's just not ringing a bell. I heard rumors about his death several days ago, but at the time, they were just rumors.
My mom was diagnosed with sarcoidosis about 15 years ago. Although it's under control/in remission she's more prone to bronchitis than she used to be.
