I joined Facebook!  Yes....I know....it's awful.  My daughter has been on for ages, and I always frowned on the idea of having your name and photo out there on the internet.  And what's the point anyway?  Why would you spend ages "chatting" with your friends, when you could just pick up the phone and call them?  Or better yet, go out and do something with them?  The whole thing seemed rather juvenile to me.... and it is.... partly.

It is also a rather cool tool for keeping track of friends.  Theatre people are a rather nomadic lot, and I have friends spread out all across the country.  Through it's rather amazing "Friend Finder", I have managed to re-connect with people I haven't seen in years.

And yes it also has some very addictive games, even for old farts like me!

So I apologise for neglecting all my friends at SC.  I have a few hundred blogs to get through, but I'm on it.  I also see some new faces around here and that's always exciting!

So, what's been happening in your life?  Tell me what's happening around here.

And if you'd like to be Facebook friends then show me yours and I'll show you mine :-)  PM me and we'll connect.

Ah, now there's a real online addiction! I got suckered into joining Facebook a while back, too.

It's good to see you, Actorguy. :)

I have yet to give in to Facebook...as much as I have the urge I am fighting it.  It is a great place to find people, like you mentioned.  I had my Niece find a friend of mine that I've been missing for 20 years.  She moved out of the country when we were young and we were so close.

I've given into MySpace.  When I initially signed up it was to bag my Niece when I KNEW she was up to no good and dumb enough to write about it.  This was several years ago now and I have no regrets about being a meany.  I do use it now from time to time.

A word of caution though...don't post anything you wouldn't want your employer ever knowing, or the cops lol.  My friend "K's" boyfriend is a detective and they use both sites to nab dumb criminals.

botoni:  I'm quite surprised at the number of old friends I have been able to connect with.  It's also a great place for local actors to let people know about auditions, shows they are in etc.

infernal:  It is addicting isn't it.

daily:  I have heard about employers checking their employees Facebook and that that just seems wrong.  I'll remember to keep my rants confined to SC :-)  I'm not too worried about the cops lol.  I'll keep my criminal activities off Facebook :-)

queenie:  Wow, you are connected!  I've heard of myspace, but not the other two.

Wow. I was just wondering where you'd gotten to, and I go away for the day and here you are! :D

I'm on Facebook. To be honest, I signed up for it and that's pretty much been it so far. If I ever put effort into making my profile presentable, I'll definitely let you know.

I'm on MySpace, mainly because my old high school has a little bit of a presence there. I'm considering creating a separate MySpace (an alt? eek!) for my online friends because my other profile is private and has a few pics of my family on it.

I have a facebook page, a my space page, a hi-5 page, a linked in page, yada yada yada... I don't go to any of them, but have found that old friends, and business acquaintances have been able to find me....  There are no pictures, no information that is too private, no nothin' yet, they still find you....

Yesterday, I got an email from facebook which was from an old friend that I haven't seen since my childhood camp days in 1978!

Eilan: Good to see you!  To be honest, I get kind of reclusive when the theatre season ends, so Facebook isn't the only thing that has kept me away.  As we get winding up for the September re-opening, I tend to come out of my shell again.  It's great to see I haven't been completely forgotten though!

eurekame:  Cool user-name and thanks for commenting.  I don't know how long you've been here, but welcome to Soulcast!

FutureGoddess:  You certainly are connected!  I suspect that Facebook will soon fade into the background for me, and I'll rely on the emails to keep me informed.  Right now, its like a new toy!

Hey Actorguy!  I am on FB too and its been great to find old friends.  I am so excited because one of my school friends from 20 years ago (remember we were living in South Africa at the time) is living in Scotland now and coming down to visit me next weekend.  We had lost touch and found each other via Facebook. . .so just for that it has meant a great deal to me.  A part of my history lies with this friend and its been great to reconnect :-))

Have fun there, but remember your privacy policy :-)

SensualGirl: When I was in grade 4 (10 yrs old), my very best friend moved to England.  We wrote back and forth for years, but eventually lost track of each other.  30 years later, I went to England and managed to track him down.... luckily he has a very unusual last name.  I've only spoken to him once in the last 43 years, but I have found him again....on Facebook.  Things like that make it very special.

By the way, you and he could be neighbours.... he lives in your city!
