Todays' update.  Above is the rendition of what the new kitchen should look like.  I'm getting excited.  The drywall should be started today and complete before Friday.  The cabinets can be installed all of next week.  Then its a week or so wait for the counter tops and another week or so wait for the backsplash tile.  It's finally coming together!

bot- Very nice looking and I like the layout. Its workable yet open to keep people from bumping into each other. Do I see two stovetops, two ovens, and two sinks? If so, are you planning to cook for the neighborhood?
  • Actorguy said on Aug 06, 2008....
Beautiful!  You could host your own cooking show in there!
  • botoni said on Aug 06, 2008....
Hey Beyond....Yup two stove tops, one electric and one gas.  You cant see them all in the mock up but there are four sinks in total and two dishwashers.  When we get at it around here it sometimes seems we're cooking for the neighborhood.

This is what it looks like right now.  You can see we've got a long way to go yet.

LOL Actorguy!  It would be a comedy of errors!

Okay botty, that does it...  I will be moving in ASAP.  OMG, I am pea green with envy.  I saw the top pick last night at Flickr.  (You're being studied...  lol)
  • botoni said on Aug 06, 2008....
MimiOsa!  Just pack up your quilt squares and come park.  You can play in my kitchen anytime you want (once it's done).
  • uniquely-ironic said on Aug 06, 2008....

Wow, that looks so cool.  I think if my kitchen looked like that that I'd never leave it.  Might even sleep in there.  (okay, maybe not sleep in there)

You'll be able to handle a big crowd of company when it's all done.  When are we all coming over? :)

Wow, Botty. I think I might have to move up there with you. I love the rendition of your kitchen.
  • quietone said on Aug 06, 2008....
oh so modern looking and very user friendly by the looks!  I love your french doors!  Can't wait to see this with the colors you  have picked out.  I am excited too!  :)

Yeah, I'm loving this botti!  I guess I'll be meeting Zayda up there!

    Those pictures of what it looks like now are giving me flashbacks to my nightmare of tearing this house apart.  I feel pain for you {{{HUGS}}}

Are you keeping an album of this? Just for the memories sake.
It's going to be great when it's done.  That's a fantastic layout you got planned there.
Two stove tops? Two of everything...wow!
I'd like to see what dinners you'll be preparing.   :^)

Wishing you many happy hours in your new kitchen when it is done!  Looks like it will be a great place to hang out, and also to step out of to enjoy a good meal.  Happy constructing!

    ohhhh looks nice tito boti!!!

Kitchen is fantastic and the fact that you are seeing an end in sight is, perhaps, even MORE fantastic. We will SOOO be ready for Saint Thomas when we are done Bot. Really.

That's awesome--I'm so jealous.  I want a new kitchen, too.  *pouts*

With four occasionally-scummy rugrats, I'd probably have to go with something other than white, however!

The good thing is is that when everything starts happening it will come together fast.
  • FutureGoddess said on Aug 07, 2008....
Can I invite myself over for dinner when it is complete - nothing fancy, mind you - just gourmet.... <grin>
  • botoni said on Aug 07, 2008....

UI.....You're welcome to sleep in the kitchen if that's your preference.  Just keep your face out of the soup bowl..........hehehehe

Zayda....Thank you.  Knowing your culinary skills I'm flattered that you like it.

Quiet....There's another set of those doors going in the dining room.  I'm hoping it ends up being user friendly.  I'm wondering if I'll be able to master all the gizmos on the appliances.  I may need a tekkie.

Daily.....It's lot like a wound now that you mention pain.  Everyday when I see progress is like the sore getting a little smaller.  Do drop in to watch the Lobstah being prepped.  I'll get you a nice hunk of steak 'cause I know lobstah doesnt sail for you.  Maybe we'll give Zayda the blender and she can whip up some of her smoothies.

RollingC....Thanks.  We're certainly keeping a record of all the happenings in there.  It's starting to feel like giving birth.  (The labor pains are in my wallet.)

Wombie....In my fantasy world there'll be great friends like you at the breakfast bar just waiting to catch what leaps off the cooktop.

QP.....Thanks.  You figure I'll be able to whip up some adobo in there?

Woman.....You wanna believe we're gonna be soooooooo ready for St. Tommies'.  You figure they're gonna let the two of us in at the same time?

Eilan.....My fur people are always waiting at floor level for the fall out in my kitchen.  There's a lot.  I'm so sloppy I contemplated tiling the whole thing from top to bottom so I could just hose it down after cooking.

Sammies.......You hit the nail on the head.  Now that things are rolling it seems to be moving fast.

Future....Gimme a couple hours warning if you want something gourmet.  I always use a little wine when cooking and some of it goes into the pot.

  • botoni said on Aug 12, 2008....

Quiet....I'll wait to see if I can bumble through it.  Then I'll read the manuals.  Then I'll call a tech.....hehehe...everything in its proper order.

    QP.....Halo halo it is!

Woman.....rumor has it they are going to let us slip by.

    Eilan.....You got the picture!

Skald....Thank you.  You're welcome to come and use mine anytime you re in the mood.

Ed....thanks.  The work is so off schedule that I'm beginning to wonder if its all just a nightmare.  On the upside of that....the cabinets arrive today!

Just a few words....
Guess I'm in that place that a song like this can affect me so much, so I wanted to put it here for me.

The song came on the radio, so I "YouTube'd" it, and the video had some scenes that made me long for home so bad that I wanted to cry.
MY BLOG DISAPPEARED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, this is an unfortunate turn of events.

I've been trying to blog for a while now and have been drawing a blank. Finally, I get something going and damn it all if my computer did not...
