If you've been following AMA Motocross for a while you'll recall that some years ago Vemar made a big move into American motocross and quickly sponsored several of the sports top players; guys like Nick Wey, Nathan Ramsey, and Sebastien Tortelli.  I can remember checking out their helmet back then and noting the light weight, good ventilation, and comfortable fit.

Now distributed by Motonation (who represent Sidi boots in the states) Vemar helmets are produced in Italy; so I was not surprised to be immediately drawn the workmanship and attention to detail that the Italians are known for - plus the helmet (the VRX7) with nine different graphics/colors is very fashionable without being trendy. 

Picking the helmet out of the box I could really notice the lightweight lightweight motorcycle helmet feel to it; as evidenced when I read the actual weight was three pounds, which is in line or better than all the other top of the line motocross helmets.  Yes, you can feel the lightweight when wearing it!  Later I found that Vemar achieves this lightness by producing the helmet shell out of a carbon fiber aramidic fiberglass blend (trick stuff!).   The helmet shell has a very unique shape and size to it; it's sleek and smaller looking, but more than big enough to protect you.  I liked the fit a lot; it's longer, yet narrower.  I have sometimes had the snout protection in other helmets actually hit my face; but not with the Vemar VRX7. 

The second greatest attribute was the excellent ventilation.  With about ten vents, Vemar really does help keep the air flowing and your head cool.  The nice features that this helmet don't stop here though, as it has an excellent liner that is comfy, and super at wicking sweat and heat away.  The visor is very adjustable, with venting, and a very good length and size.

From a safety standpoint, the Vemar VRX7 is both DOT (USA spec) approved as well as meeting the EC Motorcycle specific (European) test.

Now onto the many extra's that are included with a Vemar VRX7.  Along with the helmets comes:

- A face shield which you can use if riding supermoto or street.
- A very thorough user's manual

Priced at $475, the VRX7 is in line with other top of the line helmet; and can be bought in sizes XXS to XXL.  Vemar also produces the VRX5 priced at $275.00 and also offers a complete line of street helmets.
