Have you ever imagined standing at a crater rim of an active volcano and seeing its magma explosion?

Actually you  can do this only on Tana island of Vanuatu.

I went to Tana island in May this year which is a very popular destination in Vanuatu for visitors thanks to the fiery Mt.Yasur – the world’s most easily accessible active volcano.

I and other visitors got in the 4-wheel drive and headed for Mt. Yasur! As we got closer to the volcano, the smell of sulfur pervaded the air and we could hear its rumbling. We drove up to within 200 meters of the crater rim and climbed up to the crater rim. At the crater rim, we could see the red and gold lightning inside the vent. Then suddenly the ground started trembling and the roaring noise was getting louder!

“It’s about to erupt!!” Somebody yelled. The rumbling was getting louder and louder!! The moment it reached its peak, it erupted with a roar. Everyone gasped and was frozen! It was a big big explosion! The red-hot fiery lave shot up and lit up night sky. I stepped back doe to the heat and blast. I felt as if we were almost absorbed by the explosion. Then, the lava fell down to the ground and everything settled down.Then,we waited for the next explosion.

The volcano erupted every 5 to 10 minutes on that night.

Of course , I was very scared but kept watching its eruption saying “Give me bigger one!”.

The fifth or sixth explosion was the biggest one and everyone stepped back and some even ran way! Then , the next moment, lumps of lava whizzed over our heads!!!! We were almost hit by the lava!!

Luckily, we had a narrow escape from death....

Although its magnificent explosion really draws people, you really have to be careful and watch the rock all the time when you go there.

It is said that if a girl associate with a too much attractive man , her fingers burned someday.

So, don’t be absorbed in watching its eruption too much, otherwise your whole body burned....
