Hello everyone.  Today is Sunday. I've read a few blogs and commented on a few.
There is some very interesting writings of Soulcast peeps. I started thinking about some of the games i played as a child and i wonder why i don't still play them. I'm going to write them on paper and then list them here tonight when i get back from mom's house.
The thoughts make me miss those days of my own delightful imagination. We were so poor that we just had to think of things to do, because we were always told to "go outside and play". We would always, always find something to do.

you know...ring the doorbell and then ride to hide while the person looks to see, but no ones there. come on everyone has played that before. hehe.

grass singing is what my mom called it. we would go to an open area, with no one or nothing around. then we would sing to our hearts content. loud (me not very good) and very silly.

ride to hide? sorry still don't get it

grass singing........that one i get it.  My mother sang to her roses all the time.   Whenever i tried to sing, everyone would tell me to shut up because i sounded terrible.  I have climbed that mountain on my own and have begun to sing as an adult. I love to sing at times. No one dares tell me to shhhh. They know better.  You reminded me of my mom when she was young and beautiful. Thank you.

oh....ok......you mean ring the door bell and run and hide?  Yeah, we played that game a lot but we never really had a name for it. So, you go ding dong and run and jump in a ditch?  ding dong ditch   That sounds funny.    There were so many games to play back then.  We even built our own kites. And sometimes, they would actually work. That was a good feeling.    I had the best of times playing marbles though.  Dad had a giant jar full of marbles. Those were all the marbles he had won off of all us kids. And, Lord help you if you go into them.  That's ok though there were a lot of marbles everywhere. I bought them by the bags at the store.    You would thump a marble down the hall and it would come to a stop somewhere.  The next person thumps his/her marble down the hall. And if he hits the first marble he gets to keep it. And so on, and so on..... It's a cutthroat game for a kid. ha ha

I know i ramble on a lot. tis' me. You sound very mature. I guess some moms will always be like that.  Keep giving your mom good advice.

its cool, i ramble all the time. my a.d.d. coming out, lol!

    humm, never played marbles....

rode bikes for sure, swam at the river, watching for shapes in the clouds, finding creatures in the tide pools, nature walks, coloring, sticker collecting...

still so many things on this list.

i fake it really well; hehe...

    day,

hummm, usually a crab or two, starfish, anemones, urchins...we'd put the starfish in buckets and dry em' out in funny shapes. Hey I was a mean kid...sometimes.
  • day2day said on Aug 07, 2008....

    me,

creatures is a good name for those things..But, urchins? Aren't those the spiny round thingys.  sorry, can't think of a better description right now.                         Yeah, you were a mean kid for drying out those starfish. just kiddin'. ha ha ha       Starfish were kinda hard to find on the Gulf Coast. They are there, but rare.      Mostly tons of seaweed, shells, jellyfish, crabs, the infernal seagulls, etc.   I don't live on the coast right now, but i do go visit often. I can't stay away.

I love this post btw.  Remembering the good ol' times always makes me happy.
