  I've noticed this happening before from time to time.  Once on one of my posts---and I was shocked at first, then laughed knowing it had to be a glitch of some kind.

  someone made a post exactly like this a couple of years ago. At the time the numbers were a result of ranking in google for some search term. Maybe that's what's happening on the ones you see.

  I think it is the result of some sort of Google search crawling webpages. My last post has almost 700 views in less than 24 hours but only 12 comments. So I'm gonna guess that not that many people actually read it! But it has happened before. I don't think it's a big deal. Just one of those things!

  Thanks everyone for letting me know that this has happened in the past.... e.t.  yes one of the posts I did see was yours with the 700+ views.. one was mine and one was moonplatoons.. ha..
   
  As far as it being quit... I know a lot of "us" are still lingering around in the sidelines.. but maybe we all just have blogged ourselves out for a while?  I do miss a few I have not seen.. I do know mobil said he'd be back after a summer of chasing butterflies with his grandchildren... I miss him too wish.

  silverwhisper has a recent blog entry about books that's garnered 670+ views.  It just seems odd, given the number of responses and the relatively slow traffic on SC recently.

  ginger ~ I guess then mobil better get his hairy butt back here and make some noise so we can have a good laugh again!!  haha.  I also think, now that it was some kind of glitch or some poor soul that was really really bored and read the same posts over and over a few hundred times!  LOL

  eilan ~ I can kinda understand eds posts getting up into the early high numbers, but not that many in such a short time frame! I think we all are here and there, but maybe just blogged out of new stuff??

  quietone: as others have said, it's almost certainly various search engine "spiders" that crawl out over the internet to look for stuff to include in search results. i know i've seen google & yahoo spiders on various sites i frequent. :>
