Is this the America that you liberals dream about? Not an America of fairness....not a government for, of, and by the people, but one that is controlled by a select group of people?

Today the Democrats in Congress tried to exercise that control. In a manner reminiscent of the old Soviet Union, Nancy Pelosi ordered the lights turned off, the microphones cut off and had the press removed by force.

Gasoline is still well over 4 bucks a gallon and the Republicans were set to give us an energy bill. Now we will have to wait 5 more weeks before discussion even begins on the subject.

The Dems had this next election wrapped up......White House, The Senate, and The House of Representatives.......now....I'm not so sure .

I saw this and I think this why Congress (under Dem control) has the lowest approval rating in history.  This is disgusting beyond belief and shows the Democrats and Liberals care nothing about their constituants and everything about having a stranglehold on the American people.

What is even more laughable is how many headlines this will create, virtually nill, but let the sides be reversed.  Let a Republican shut everything down while some Dem is talking about Global warming and good God CNN would be foaming at the mouth.

I was surprised at the amount it did get.....I heard it on the radio a few times on friday, but that was pretty much the extent of it.....I doubt if the mainstream media will continue it on monday....I didn't catch meet the press this morning...was there anything about it on there?
Surely it will be buried.....just like the soviets used to do.

Just read on Drudge (linked to Politico) that it continues today.  Several Republicans may stay for the whole week.  This could be bad for Dems if they don't respond.

The republicans did such things many times when they were in power. Oddly you didn't mind then. Why do you only thing it's a serious issue when the democrats do it?

When was that bloc? refresh my memory......and did they pay for it in the long run?...I think this will be the dems Achilles heal this election.

Granted each party will use whatever tools they believe to get their point across, turning off the lights and microphones, this is not politics it is censorship and Pelosi isn't acting on behave of her constituants by not allowing the vote.

and yet, you seem to think that civil liberties are highly overrated. make up your mind, d6: you're trying to have it both ways.

"On June 17, 2005, Sensenbrenner, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, abruptly ended a meeting where Republicans and Democrats were supposed to be debating the renewal of theUSA PATRIOT Act and walked out in response to Democratic members raising issues regarding human rights violations at the U.S. military prison in Guantanamo Bay and the ongoing Iraq war. He ordered the court reporter to halt transcriptions of the proceedings, C-SPAN cameras covering the meeting be shut off, and that discussion on the issue be halted.
    ...
Sensenbrenner kept trying to gavel the hearing to a close, but Democrats again pointed to the rules, which said they had a certain amount of time to examine their witnesses. When they refused to stop the proceedings, the chairman did something unprecedented: He simply picked up his gavel and walked out. "He was like a kid at the playground," the staffer says. And just in case anyone missed the point, Sensenbrenner shut off the lights and cut the microphones on his way out of the room."
