I was woken up this morning by the phone, much too early.  And all for a wrong number!  (No, this is NOT the doctor's office! And anyway, what doctor's office is open at 7:30 in the damn morning?)

What a hell of a way to wake up.  I'm turning off the phone and going back to bed.

Meems - Sometimes, I am in the office at 5 am - even though I usually don't realize I am alive until after 10 - LOL!  I totally sympathize.  For a while, I was getting woken up at 4 am every morning by a fax machine.  I was finally able to trace it to a local delicatessen.  Somehow, I had made it on to their list of people who receive the daily specials.  Needless to say, I was not that polite when I told them what they could do with their menu and asked them to stop calling me!

Hope you got a chance to go back to sleep!

I hate wrong numbers.  It's even worse when they think you're lying to them.

Sorry you got woken up for that!  We get quite a few wrong numbers, as well as those solicitation computer calls....I get so mad!  Actually, I got a call this morning and only heard someone say "Mam I..." then it cut off.  I guess they were going to say "Mam I'm sorry...."

    MimiSleepy.......poor thing you...

Well, hope my following story will make you feel better....

I live in this place by 3 years now.....ok, the previosu renter must have been a huge sonofbiotch, an outlaw, a renegade sort of professional thief....maybe an identity thief???
Can you believe than i STILL keep having calls about him?
And i mean ...half USA is looking for him... collection agencies, jewelry stores, banks, financial institutes......what did he do? Robbed a diamond delivery van?? Snuggled Mexicans from the border? Financed  Bin Laden??
This guy is on the FBI list, i am telling you.

Cant care less and i can be STIll quite polite when they STILL call during day time...
but....not so, and i repeat NOT,  at 7 am or after 9pm ...

In those occasions i simply slam the phone down. No bah no mah...and this happens at least once a week...

    Feeling better?

Oh Good Lord! When we first moved here, the phone number we got was recycled from a nearby rental car business...so it was in the yellow pages for a year! I would patiently say...no, I am sorry...and then they would say: do you know their new number? Or they would get all pissed off.
I became so frustrated by the constant interruption, all for naught, that I actually found their new location and number and began to give it out. I would say: oh, look at that, you are in luck! You have the wrong number, and why you need a car at
6 am, I haven't a clue, but here is where they moved to and here is their number!

I thought FOR SURE that the kindness would be stored up as a good karmic balance for me....I think I was wrong!

I'm sure I told this story on at least one of my online haunts before, but. . .

One night about 10 years ago, my grandma was watching TV when the phone rang.  The man on the other end was interested in buying a trailer (mobile home?  horse trailer?) that she was selling.

When my grandma replied that the man must have the wrong number because she didn't have a trailer to sell, he got nasty with her.  I'd have probably hung up on the bastard, but my grandma tried to reason with him.  He eventually put his wife on the phone so she could read the contents of the ad to my grandma.  Sure enough, he'd dialed the wrong number.

The man insisted, however, that he'd dialed the right number.  He thought my grandma was just being uncooperative.  When my grandma was telling me the story the next morning, she said that even if she did have a trailer to sell, she wouldn't have sold it to him after putting up with his crap!

I have my ringer turned off all the time.  I feel if its someone I want to talk to when I hear the answering machine come on..... I will pick up, or I will call them back if I dont hear it at all...... ah, peace and quiet.  :)  good night ~

I have to unplug my phone next to my bed at night so early in the am I don't get woken up by ..... sales calls..... I hate that and I worked in telephone sales before but nevermore.
What's really annoying, aside from persistent sales calls, is people that dial the wrong number.  My telephone number is one digit off from a hospice on the beach and boy do I get waves of calls from people who don't look correctly when dialing.

i think this is one of the worst things possible. it really bugs me because we have a private phone line.
