You are going to think I've gone crazy, but what you are about to read is true.
Yesterday afternoon, I stretched out across the bed and listened to my hypnosis CD. At the end of it, I dozed off for a few minutes.
I woke up and I know I was awake. Before I opened my eyes, I had a very distinct sensation of someone in the room with me and looking at me. I opened my eyes and looked directly into the face of what I would call a Being Of Light. I say that because it was in human form but consisted only of golden and white light. It had no facial features, but was leaning against the bed post watching over me. I was startled and screamed. At that point, it just dissipated. The waking connection was at least 30 seconds or so I'm guessing.
I wasn't afraid after the initial shock. I do know it was a real experience and that I wasn't dreaming. At first I thought maybe it was my brother's spirit visiting, but then I just seemed to know it was a Being Of Light. That term came to me and will not go away.
Your first assumption might be to think that this is related to my hypnosis. I wondered about that too, but there are no suggestions within it about such things. It's really all about loving myself, my thinking habits and my emotions related to food. My thinking is that the only way it could be related is if it somehow opened my senses to it a bit more on a subconscious level. I have always had a certain sensibility to spiritual things. I think I've posted about some of those other experiences here before. This had an undoubted spiritual feel as well.
Maybe it's not related at all to hypnosis and I was just meant to see this Being Of Light.
I hope you don't think I've totally flipped my lid. Whenever I have an experience like this, I always feel a need to share it. I feel like I am supposed to. I have a sense of peace about sharing it. I feel like this Being Of Light showed itself to me for a reason.

Very cool! I don't think you're crazy. I've never experienced anything quite like that, but I'm a believer in things like that. When you say 'being of light' all I can think of is an angel. Someone who watches over us and protects us.
I do think it's related to the hypnosis, only because that does open your mind and your soul, and it relaxes you to the point that you're sensitive to everything around you. The more open your mind, the more likely you are to see things or hear things that other people who are distracted, can't see or hear.
I really believe we're never alone because someone is always there with us. And you were fortunate enough to see your guardian angel :-) Don't scream at him next time :-P

I agree with E_T - this is very cool. And I don't think you are crazy ... I do think that the hypnosis may have helped you tap into an inner resource that allows you to appreciate the hidden realities that exist when we aren't usually aware.Maybe this being was attracted to your own inner light, CW!- Wishy -

I don't think you are crazy, either. I do think that when you have learned to meditate, it opens up the mind to such things. I have had a few experiences myself, the biggest one of which is when I saw that light in the woods one time. I was in a state of despair and was sitting in a cemetery. The whole woods lit up in a pure white light that moved torward me for a minute, then faded away. -

I agree with everyone else, and I too have had this experience. It is so wonderful and the peace is almost too overwhelming to explain. I have a good feel though for "who " it is, if it is someone I have loved...and if not that, then I somehow "hear" the message although like you said there is no facial features per se, so they are not talking but somehow I know.
I think that you most definitely met with an angel and that you will meet again as you invite the experience into your meditation. Oh and also I do not know what it means, but each time, I have a sense of like a whirling spiral feeling going up my back...but if I "stop" and try to focus on that feeling it goes away. I am unsure what the heck that means....

I believe you CW....I'm a strong believer and I think that ET got it right. Your hypnosis relaxed your mind to the point where you saw this being of light. You were startled and it became invisible to you.In this same frame of mind when you go to church....see if you can spot the aura's of the people around you or on the pulpit.Don't be scared, a mental door is opening for you....enjoy !:^)Rc -

They say everything happens for a reason, no matter how ugly and awful that event is, it has a future purpose.I was sitting here, on my annual leave, feeling exsessively low for one reason or another and after reading all My Covnersations, My Users and My Interests and all my e-mails, I finally come to the front page. Too bad it frightened you. I wonder if you could have had a conversation with it if you didn't get scared. Maybe it was an angel. Maybe it was the spirit of someone who was in your family. It was probably a dear friend in heaven, one way or another, angel or spirit. -

What a lovely gift that a higher being came to you. Maybe this being has a special message - maybe something you need to know? I'm guessing, but you can probably connect to this energy by sitting in stillness and asking for an answer. It's interesting how more and more people are having these experiences. I wonder why it's happening now. -

Thank you all for your comments. I'm very happy to hear that the consensus is that I haven't lost my mind. :-) I will come back and answer individually as soon as I can.
I'm running about in a rush getting ready to leave on a road trip early in the morning with my best friend. It's nothing too terribly exciting (state high school baseball) but it gets me away from home for a few days. If I have time I will do a little post on it before I go. If not, I'll see you when I get back sometime on Monday.

i think it was your guardian angel... i saw one when my friend died... when my friend died and while i was at the hospital, i saw his spirit and someone was with him... a person with no face just a white light on it... it was so pure and beautiful and it lasted more than 30 seconds too... it was my friend's way of saying good bye to me and telling me he was in a better place... so i guess it was your guardian angel telling you that your angel is always with you. that's a beautiful experience cw... treasure it... ;-) -

After giving it some thought, I feel it was a spirit or being of light sent to watch over me. It seemed very content in doing that before I realized I wasn't dreaming and screamed.

After the initial shock of it, I felt no fear or anxiety about it. I spent the rest of the evening alone and feeling perfectly calm. I did not have the sense of peace that has accompanied other experiences I've had though.
