The page you were looking for no longer exists

i was in a fast food restaurant the other day and i realized that i recognized the song playing in the background...sort of.

you see, what i was hearing was a snippet of u2's where the streets have no name.

but it was sampled into a dance tune.

there was a time when dancing to u2 would have struck me as incredibly, incredibly wrong. i just can't imagine people dancing to sunday, bloody sunday, after all.

it was kinda disturbing/creepifying.

so what songs have you heard sampled/remixed that made your brain hurt to hear?

Yes, its a sacrilege. I call it 'ear fucking/raping'. I absolutely hate the new remixes. It's like giving a toddler a Picasso to scratch on. I'm a lover of oldies, and I've been called an 'old soul' on more than one occasion cause I can singalong with Nat King Cole and other more contemporary songs. My soul mate's about 6 years older than me but he loves me cause I know all the songs that he loves -- of course that helps out a lot with the romance too ;)

Have you heard Fatboy Slim's version of The Joker (Steve Miller)? That's the latest one i've listened to. Hip Hop does ALOT of remixing....

Girl! You need to get out more to hear what is sampled into dance tunes these days. U2 is tame. Of course, when Annie's "It's a hard knock life" was sampled into Hip Hop, I knew we were out of ideas. I should send you video game music dance remixes to eat your soul.

SL: i don't venture into clubs. lys: no, that's not the point: you should not be able to dance to u2! ed

Tina Turner's "I Can't Stand the Rain" Diana Ross' "I'm Coming Out" The Police's "Every Breath You Take" (in which Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, whatever his name is this week rhymes "strenf" with "strenf") There are so many more, but I was really saddened by the sampling of Tina's track; I dig her music.

I don't like the remix of "We're In Heaven". BTW, 332001 stole one of ALIENated's posts, too. I have already given him a heads-up. Thanks for letting me know, Silver. Ticks me off, you know?

Who knows next they might mix, Led Zepplin 'Stairway to Heavon' and hopefully they will make a better job of it than Rolph Harris did!

All remix songs bothers me. I love hip hop and dance musics also..but when it combined with an oldies...argh..no..no...one is to shake your booties, while the others is to trigger your old memories, being sentimental...never together!

The worst one i heard recently was Scissor Sister's rendition of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb". I thought "Bloody Hell" why am i not surprised?!

Where have the creativity gone? I mean with all the technology and sound editing systems etcetera I thought we'd be more creative. I on the other hand have been listening to skyrock.com (French radio station) -- at least they have it right. They play good numbers including the US ones. I like the french raps.

Oh ed. You need a 12 step to end your intolerance of uncreative dance music. First, I will take you to a random gay bar to desensitize you.

all dance music is uncreative. hello? thumpa-thumpa? a random gay bar? are you operating under the delusion that i've never been in one? ed

Heard Living on a Prayer as a dance tune the other day. Bryan Adams's Heaven sounds like hell as a dance tune too.

Comment on "they remixed/sampled what song?"
