Saw it on the news and turned it up quick to listen.....sounded like it wasn't bad like it could have been. Strange how depending on where you live, you can get used to things that occur there. In the south, it's tornados. I don't know which is more scary. You might get a chance to get to safety in a tornado, but where do you go in an earthquake? In a doorway--yes, I've heard. But I would be terrified. Been through a couple of tremors, but not often and I feel for you people who "take it for granted."
We're all okay here :-) It was kind of freaky at first, but it wasn't so bad. At least not here. Everyone was talking about it for about 30 minutes, and then it was just back to business as usual! But yeah, everything is good, so no worries :-)
Reading the news story it sounds like big news. But in the end it doesn't sound like much actually happened. As they said, people seem to have forgotten what an earthquake feels like. I think evilT handled it like a true Californian. When our school building started swaying a couple of weeks ago I had to call it to the attention of the students. They were too busy shouting and fighting over an eraser. Then the swaying went on slow and lazy and two students said they felt sick.
they captured the earthquake on an episode of 'judge judy'. the clip was being shown on morning joe today.
what i found particularly interesting was that as soon as the building started to shake, people started to try and run out of the courtroom, and the bailifs were telling them to stay where they were. however, within the first 2 seconds, judge judy had bolted up and run off the set to her 'safe room', leaving all the rest of the people to their fate. you are all free to draw your own conclusions to her actions.
